To use a 4/40 "Mini" nut for steering, in a piece that is molded to use the "mini" nut, and you can't put a larger nut on it. And on top of that, charge $4.99 for a package of 10. Really? Fifty cents per nut?

The only thing keeping me from speeding up and down the street right now is a nut.

is it in a plastic housing? where you could grind it down and use a standard 4/40.

We i just dropped a .28 and a tuned pipe in my MGT 4.6 and lost the front drive axle going from the tranny to the front diff. so i had my wife go to the LHS to pick up up for me, so they sold her one for a 8.0... different axle... it cost me 24.99 for a tap and die set so i could get it to work.... so in the end it was a 45.00 dollar axle....

I could, but I really don't want to weaken it. I'm gonna go tear the front end apart and see if I can swap out another one to use there.

Here we go, talking about someone's nut problems again.

Understandable. It's hard to run when you're in pain.

A good hardware store should carry the nut you're looking for. It might cost 15 cents, but I wouldn't want ten at .50 each.

See that's the problem. Everybody has 4-40 nuts, but not 4-40 mini nuts. There is a difference in the outer size, and as I have no wrenches that small, I couldn't tell you what the size difference is.

But I did get the problem fixed. To the makers of the Dremel rotary tool, you are my hero. I pulled the complete steering linkage apart, and discovered that the first ball on the servo saver had a little room to spare. So I shaved the bottom side down just a bit, put a longer ball end on it, with an ample supply of lock-tite, and cranked it tight. While I was at it, I pulled them all, and went a little crazy with the lock-tite.
