My local track is starting a new spec class based on this kit, so I am thinking of getting one. It will be my first nitro! For FW-06 owners and those familiar with this kit, what do you like most about it, and what do you dislike? Any advice would be appreciated!

Some early guidelines:
  • The Kyosho FW-06 is the only chassis allowed in this class.
  • Team Powers 32-36 compound Touring Car tires are to be used.
  • Original engine and exhaust must be used.
  • Radio and servo is open.
  • 200mm GT Bodies.
  • Rules on springs and body are being evaluated.
  • To eliminate the need of a pit person, the qualifiers will be 5 min and we will run AAA MAINS 10 min lengths. The testing we’ve done is getting 11-12 min run times on one tank.

I have one, it drives very nicely right out of the box. It has a good tendency to slide rather than flip, it's the only one of my ~10 nitros I've never flipped...

The only nitpick I had, which might have just been an issue with mine, is that the exhaust manifold had some internal metal left over from casting process that I had to dremel out. I wasn't "modifying" it to be any larger than stock, but it literally had a ~50% blockage due to a thin piece of aluminum inside the elbow that had never gotten completely removed. It was irregularly shaped, like the excess that would slip between halves of a casting mold and normally be trimmed away.

So if yours has that issue, you'd never know unless you dismantled the exhaust and put it back together. I was able to start it and run it, but if felt sluggish compared to my cheaper "Flying Fish", until I reworked that part.

I clocked mine at 45mph stock.
