new to the forum and loving this build thread. without wanting to hijack i've got a mk2 nissan skyline (short wheel base). I upgraded to metal parts and also a hobby wing BL 3s (i only run 2s). Its eating the spur and pinion, do you have plans to upgrade these parts?
thanks

Hello, been a few months since I posted. Been working on a 1:1 project for son’s 16th birthday. Got it mostly wrapped up. So I’m looking to start a 2nd round on the 66 Chevy truck. Big Debbie is giving me some down time to scour the web for some upgrades. I ordered a 4300kv brushless motor for it today. And found some goodies that I haven’t seen before. Not sure if they been around for a while or new

So I wasn’t gonna go the aluminum upgrade route on this build to keep things light. But I came across this (new to me) And can’t pass it up. Lol. At least it will make chassis a little tougher.
Is that a Kicker subwoofer box in the background?? Nothing like thumpin' around town....🤟

Yes. I have 32tooth metal pinion gear on motor now. Kyosho makes a 76tooth metal spur gear I’m gonna get. I’m just collecting all the chassis goodies I want on this thing and put all on at one time.

Yes. Son just got his license and we put 2 12s and 2 6 1/2 subs running about 800watts in his truck

What are Kyosho using on their brushless setups? I can’t believe they still use the plastic dog bones. I would have thought those would break easily.

for the short wheel base fazer mk2 i can't see any metal spurs/pinions, they have a metal spur for the long wheelbase (or mad van) but still no pinion. its all after market which is bonkers given the range of HD parts Kyosho offer for the mk2.

what pinion have you used, i.e make etc?

The metal spur and pinion gear are both Kyosho. Do a eBay search you can find both. They will fit short wheelbase too

The metal spur gear is actually more a slipper clutch at this point and take about 20 parts to build. U can also beef up the diff gears from 2 to 4 gears on the inside of diff

Had some time to rummage through some old RC stuff and found me some center caps for my wheels.

Had a couple weeks vacation this past month gave me some time to go through some old RC boxes. Plus getting a truck running for my sons 16th birthday I cam across some unusual RC usage items. I came across this headlight lens cover that’s actually thick as the printed chassis protector I have. So u could use it as a chassis protector too. It’s .5mm thick. I put some on my headlights just messing around. Not too yellow with lights on though.

Fuel cell in bed of truck. Which u think looks better? The aluminum piece looks good. But the plastic is more to scale I think.
