So my original plan was to paint a truck body to match my real truck and be done. Oh well that’s long gone now. This is gonna be an ultimate Fazer MK2 build. So now it starts here. The main goal is for the body to be as realistic and scale as possible. The chassis is a combination of performance looks and my upgrade choices.

So I’ve got about 95% of the chassis parts to complete the upgrade. I’m upgrading the diffs to steel out drives and and 4 spider gears instead of just 2 inside the diffs. I’m also upgrading most of the plastic parts to aluminum. I already have the aluminum shocks and carbon fiber shock towers and front bumper installed.

So a little less chatter and on to some pics

This is gonna be mostly a shelf queen at least til I paint another body for it. So I went cheap on the electronics. Hobbywing 4300kv brushless motor with matching esc and programming card. A 35kg metal gear servo. 5200 3s battery. For now the stock radio will suffice.

I swapped out the plastic steering system for aluminum turnbuckles. And the counter sunk spacer in place of plastic cups. Not sure if it’s any weight savings but at cuts down on wind drag and looks much cooler

Not much time for RC this week. Getting done with holidays and birthday. Did get white letter tire done and som center caps for aluminum rims. Got a couple more diff parts to order then start tearing down the chassis

What do you use to to the tires with?
I have some 1/10 scale tires that would look great with RWL but I look at my paint marker, even ' extra fine' tip looks like I'd just make a mess .
Tips?
I love the upgrades! I hope we get a chance to see a run before it hits the shelves!!! 😎

Those are vinyl decals. If u use paint u can clean up with a toothpick. Or those fine tipped Qtips from hobby store with some thinner. Go light on paint with a few layers

Decals would certainly explain your accuracy! 🤣
Thanks for the tips! I'll dig out some old tires to practice with. 👍

Had a snow day so I started tearing down the chassis. Here is a closer look at all the up grades going into the chassis minus diff upgrades. The only aluminum i didn’t use was shock towers, front bumper(used carbon fiber) and Kyosho wheel hub. If it looks like I can use them with Yeah Racing dog bones I may get them down the road after tear down.

I'm waiting on the spider gears to come in for the diffs. Then it’s full speed ahead getting the chassis back to together. Only a couple extra things to get it completed I see so far.

Bullet proofing the diffs this week. Here is the stock diff opened up. With just 2 spider gears the diff grease just builds up on the open slots not really spreading it around

This is the parts for beefing up the diffs. Steel outdrives, 2 more spider gears. This will help get power to the tires better and help it hold up to the brushless motor

Here’s a look at the difference putting the extra set of spider gears make. Should help the grease to spread over the gears better and last longer.

A look at the completed diff. I have to go by LHS this week to get diff grease. All I had was oils. Might see if they have some nicer bearings to add on as well. This tightened the diffs up quite a bit and the grease should take a little more of the slop out as well
