So we have a .15 max with a .16 of some sort(maybe megatech). But anyhow it keeps killing glow plugs after a lap or two. Any ideas on what could be causing it? It runs ok till it kills it.

Correct nitro fuel content on a certain type of glow plug, good tune then there will be no problem. Sometimes too much vibration also kills plugs.

Also check for debris in the engine, that stuffs is a killer.

Pull off the combustion head and see if the top of the piston and the bottom of the combustion head look sand blasted. This is an indication of detonation and if you are detonating you will kill plugs very quickly plus you will kill your engine.

Detonation is caused by too much combustion pressure. This can be caused by running a nitro % that is too high or by having bad engine bearings or a stretched rod.

If the engine is not detonating then work on tuning. I suggest that you start with a rich engine and slowly tune towards a more lean tune.

ok i I'm pretty sure you are referring to pre detonation not "detonating" the engine detonates every revolution, what do you think keep the piston goin?,lol

pre detonation is when the fuel ignites too early and forces the piston back down before it reaches the top of the combustion chamber
if your engine was pre detonation you would know it
it would more than likely have a broken rod by now

your problem with the glow plug is probably in your tune
if your engine is running excessively lean OR rich it can cause plugs to foul repeatedly
How are you on your tuning skills?

Pre-ignition is when your fuel is lit by either spark or glow plug too early, caused by a timing issue.

Detonation is when the the compression friction ignites the fuel too early. This can be from running lean, too hot of a plug, too much compression, too much nitro, or a combination of those things.

Diesel engines detonate, from the heat created by compression and the fact that the fuel is sprayed in at tdc.....aka direct injection.

Advance the timing too much on a gas engine for example, and it will pre-ignite.
