I just got a dx3 speckturm it is probaly the coolest thing I have ever used on a rc car.
I put it on my gs storm
By the way anyone else know any other rc forums

What was wrong with the stock radio? Isn't it FM?

Good to see you got one.

There are a few other forums, but we're RCNT all the way 'round here!

Good move towards DSM. You'll like that feature. I owned one of the DX3 units when it first came out. Didn't really suit me but I do still run DSM, just on a different radio.

Make sure you bind the rx to the tx and vice versa. Follow the directions for binding since it also sets your failsafe. A failsafe can't be used inline with DSM units since it's built into the unit.

i am getting this radio for christmas, so you saying i dont need my fail safe? one is built in with it?

yup. And it works better than an inline unit. It monitors low voltage as well as signal. If you were to use an inline fsu, it works against the programing and glitches. I learned the hard way.

Not to derail this thread, or show my ignorance, but what does DSM stand for?

MW its digital spectrum modultion...No xtals..And it 2.4 ghz...No one can ever lock on to your chennel

thats what I am running with my 3PK

Hey Diver, ??? for ya. I followed the directions to set my failsafe positions and they won't stay. If I turn off the tx the throttle goes to more or less an idle position, it will not set the brake. Any ideas?

That's strange. i followed my directions to the letter and it activates the brakes and sets the steering to straight ahead.

Which radio are you using? Try also rebinding and doing the whole process from the beginning (bind receiver to radio then bind radio to receiver with the failsafe positions. I have also done it by turning everything off, holding the failsafe position and pressing both bind buttons as the units are turned on. It's almost impossible to do this by yourself but it is possible. Better yet, get a helping hand to turn on the TX and RX for you, in that order.

I switched to DSM at the end of the Summer. That and a digital servo are a whole new racing experience.

Thanks Diver I'll try it again. I've tried binding like three times now but I may not have been holding my tongue right. It's an M8 btw.
