It's a cool looking kit, but to me, that price is just a bit steep for what you get. If they had released this kit with better shocks, maybe. But I have similar shocks on all my Kyosho kits and those spring clamps/pre-load adjusters always break eventually. Throw some threaded shock bodies in the kit as an optional build and it would be a bit more appealing at that price.Considering these are absolutely marketed toward those of us that would love to have an OG gold tub strictly for nostalgic reasons, sitting on a shelf in the ol’ hobby room….
The Jammin’ Jay livery is exactly how I’d do one as well.. Always has been if I were to do that..
In REASONABLE used condition, a 2nd run RC10 fetches easily TWICE the price of this one, so I think they are right on the money, and they will have ZERO issues moving them.
If I were in a position to start my 80’s nostalgia shelf Queen lot in the man cave, I’d pre-order one of these without a second thought. But right now, for every (2) ‘80’s shelf queens I DONT do; I can have ANOTHER current 1/8 *uggy that will spend time on display TOO while I’m not actually DRIVING it..
Not hating on AE for doing these, nor for the advertised price. I think they’re spot on with ‘em.![]()
I’m comparing SOLELY to the other option available; buying a used OG RC10… They are more expensive than this BRAND NEW kit from AE, and I, and many others would absolutely take a “Jammin’ Jay” edition anyhow.. and it’s all brand new, and not beat up junk like what you’ll pay MORE money for before this came along… Unless you get REAL lucky… And of course there are deals to be had, but in general, people know what they can sell them for, and opt for the most they can get for one..It's a cool looking kit, but to me, that price is just a bit steep for what you get. For some, authenticity is a must on that kit. Back in the day, I left the shock clamp a bit loose and just added a tie-wrap or two between it and the cap to increase pre-load... and not worry about the clamp slipping. It's a cool looking kit, but to me, that price is just a bit steep for what you get. Yeah, my old Javelin was setup that way as well after the clamps broke. For some, authenticity is a must on that kit. Back in the day, I left the shock clamp a bit loose and just added a tie-wrap or two between it and the cap to increase pre-load... and not worry about the clamp slipping.
Javelin, as in AMC Javelin?!?!Yeah, my old Javelin was setup that way as well after the clamps broke.

My friends say I am allergic to money lol. But definitely won’t be on a shelfid rather have the AMC.
i don't get how people could spend (including sales tax) over $400 for a car to put on a shelf. i want to be in your tax bracket.
that’s how the shocks are set up on my championship edition, still have it from when I was a kid!!For some, authenticity is a must on that kit.
