i just picked up a duratrax maximum st off ebay. comes with a trx pro .15. i was thinking.... can i buy a big engine like a trx 3.3 or something like that and throw it on there. drill 4 new holes in the chassis to put the engine mounts where they would let the pinion mesh with the clutch. thoughts? experience?

yeah some one could correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not to familiar with duratrax but I am with trx and a 3.3 should mount right up for you. there a little bit of play on the motor mount to get your motor right where's U want it!

weezracen is right, the TRX3.3 should drop right in if you have a TRX .15 Pro in there now.

However, the .15 is a rotary carb, side exhaust engine. The 3.3 is a slide carb and rear exhaust engine. Which means you will need to figure out new throttle linkage and get a new exhaust setup to work with it.

The OS 18 CV-R(X) is a great little engine. Quite a bit of power, holds a tune well, is easy to tune, starts easy, decent life... really can't go wrong with it.

It's also a side exhaust, rotary carb, pullstart engine. Or at least the one I linked you to is.

I agree 100%!!! Best little engine I've ever ran. Ridiculous power at a rich tune.
