My grandmother just moved into assisted living and has moved up distribution of some of the items in her will. I am lucky enough to inherit Pap's 1929 Chevy Landau (title and all)!

It's been kept in a barn for 70 years, so although the engine runs I'm pretty sure mice have built Megalopolis inside the car's seats! I'll be trailering the car back to my farm tomorrow (sans mice) and then my son and I will get to work on the mechanicals to make sure it's all safe and fluids stay where they should be! Not sure yet whether I just tidy it up and leave it as rusty gold or if I get into a restoration. Everything on the car is original except for a door handle (which I could easily find one of).

Anyway, this project is about to take up all my time and money, maybe I'll hang onto those RC's though just in case I come to my senses and realize the XRT can double up this Landau on speed!

I'm sure at least 1 of those mice hitched a ride to it's new home....good luck. Looks like a great project
I'd be thrilled if only 1. Of course I'd also be thrilled if they cleaned up 70 years of mouse droppings that I'm sure I'll find. Good thing I've got a respirator!

That's so sick! Did you have any idea this would be yours or was it a total surprise?
I knew about a year ago. None of her kids wanted to work on it, but no one wanted it to leave the family either. With the promise that I'll get it back on the road everyone agreed it would be mine.

I think it's cool as well. My son and I are headed out in an hour to load it up and trailer it home! I'm interested to see how much paint and "original" parts are left under all that dust and dirt. I know the back convertible top will need replaced but I'm hoping the canvas room ends up being ok.

Got it on the trailer and back to my farm. Only casualty was the original canvas roof which was completely shredded anyway. Good news is the wooden subframe is perfect, and new canvas and moleskin isn't bad.

Son even helped me load it up and is excited to work on it. This should be fun!

Almost looks like that commercial flat roof..I mean car roof, was repaired once before?
If you're referring to the draped material below the wood, thats the interior roof. All that keeps you warm is some moleskin layered between the inner cloth and outer canvas 😀
Not sure yet if I'll add some insulation, probably not to keep it more original, though youd never see it.
