However i dont find that the savage x differentials are very strong but if this is your first nitro truck i have a feeling you wont be bashing it too hard! Congratulations and have fun! Watch out, this is a very addicting hobby!

They are not weak...they just aren't meshed right frim factory. They only break if they are not shimmed correctly.

And Darreyl you should run at least 8 or 10 tanks before you start tuning. Make sure you have it running at a steady 200F every tank and put the piston at BDC when you stop it to let the engine cool

Well, no, it's a pain in the ass. Some will agree, some won't. Pre-heating the engine helps, along with some other tricks that we'll get to once your to that point.

Yeah I'm not much on the break in process either it kinda sux but it is very important and critical that you do it by the book. Even after the initial first five tanks these engines may take up to a gallon before they are really run in good. My 4.6 didn't really come to life till about last of the first gallon of fuel. It's a screamin demon now!

Your engine won't fully break in until around a gallon or so. Grab a gallon and store it in a dry place out of the sun.

20% is the standard. Most engines are made to have 20% run through them.

Yeah, but you'll want a better charger than that. That looks to be an over night charger. Do a search on ebay for"universal smart charger". They charge at 1 or 2 amps and are good for 6-10 cell packs. Pretty versatile charger for $20. There may even be one that charges 5-7 cell packs. That would be great, cuz then you could charge your rx pack with it as well.
