I ran into NitroDave out at Tacoma's RC Raceway today. The .21 Maxx conversion isn't the easiest thing to drive on a narrow track. Being a poopy driver doesn't help a whole lot, either. Before I made it a quarter of the way around on the first run I busted a steering knuckle. Good thing they stock some common replacement parts.
We got a few good laps in. I gotta get an FM radio so I don't hafta wait for someone to give up AM channel two.
NitroDave had errands to run and I wasn't exactly performing there either so we both left.
NitroDave? Kwong? I found a pretty good bashing spot in north Sumner close to where they're building the new 167 offramp. The "no trespassing' signs I had seen at one time were gone. On top of that there were quadders, karters and dirt-bikers out there having a good time. I won't speculate on who took down the signs I had seen the last time I passed there.
I was havin' a great time. One of the dirt-bikers stopped and recognized my truck as a T-Maxx. His employer is a nitro enthusiast and has an off-road track in his back yard. I gave him my email address. The biker said his boss isn't looking for money but is just welcoming bashers and racers looking to have fun. So hopefully I'll get an email from him.
So the broken steering knuckle at Tacoma RC Raceway wasn't a big thing... But then I hit something hard on the Sumner dirt. I'm thinkin' a rock.
Aren't hinge pins supposed to be longer than that?
Now that I'm home and I've disassembled the truck to assess damage I see that the left half of the front bulkhead is somewhat tweaked. I was looking at it thinking: "Here is where SkyMaxx says: 'I told you so'".
Screw aluminum arms. Buy RPM. Yeah, it was a show truck but I wanna drive it too.
