RC Driving Style
I think it would be really cool to have a friend driving a real car, and me driving an rc car also on the road. I currently have 2 cars i guess i could attempt this with. I have a mugen mbx 4 i was thinking of putting 2 engines in and i have a super rs4 i was thinking of putting a big block in. I was also thinking of selling one of them and getting a fusion or a ct4 s. What do u guys think?

Doesn't sound like a good idea but hey, at least you won't need a couple of football fields to get it up to speed AND lose sight of it at the same time. You'll be right next to it.

I've thought about running my onroad against 1:1, but then remembering how easily they can get out of control scares me.

But if you want something that could run freeway speed, get a schumacher fusion and change the pinion gears. It's supposed to do like 80mph.

Then if you want more speed, just swap the motor for a nice BIG and powerful .21 and gear it higher and i'll bet you could get a few more mph out of it.

you need to get the schumacher Fusion!. I just feel that you are going to burn out your engine FAST. I would gear as high as possible and run rich.

yeah i was thinking of getting that and getting like a picco .26 but I'm wondering if I'm gunna eb able to change the gearing to what i like, hmmmm

i wanna take my GX1 on the bypass around town its usually not to busy so ill just have it go behind us and ill be a passanger when there arent any cars. we had it going 40 on a road by my house and it was still gaining before we ran out of good room.

yea they do loose control way to easy, even with my steering sensitivity all the way down it still turns it far enough to roll it.

I would be scared to drive my RC on a main road! They can get out of control easily at high speeds!

I would hate to hit a pothole or any other defect in the road doing highway speeds, that could get ugly. So take vidio so we can see what happens.

I used to run my Nitro4tec on the road all the time. It was hard to keep it from squirlin all over (good think i didnt care about the car, cuz it was a piece of poop)(4tecs suck) but yeah, got some good pics.

u would be better off getting a 1/5 scale gas powered r/c. ur gona spend that much by the time u get a 1/10th going that fast.

later

Run your rc on the freeway? Is this hobby a joke? Well if you're gonna do that you better get an RC that sees 50 MPH as slow.

i was thinking the mbx 4 would proabably do the best as far as pot holes and reflectors but i dont know if i could get it to go that fast and how it would handle. 2 .26 picco engines would probably do the trick, its areodynamics are so bad tho. A rally car might be best in this situation

Actually, at those kinds of speed, it'd be best to just use an on-road...they're a lot more stable at high speed. It's a whole different ball game when you're doing 50-60mph. It's not the same as doing 35-40mph.

It'd be best to just find a newly paved road without reflectors.

Ok I got it you want the car to go fast on the freeway? Then just carry it with you at that speed in the car! Lol J/K .

I agree with Kwong on this. On Road cars just have the characteristics to achieve those speeds! The Buggies are fast but not too sure they can get there without wiping out. Maybe a LOOOOOOONG stretch a two speed and a 46 conversion and tall gearing MAAYYYYBEE!

My .02

Pot holes and reflectors

What about gravel, cigarette butts, cans, pieces of wood, trash bags, and don't forget road kill. It's hard enough to dodge that stuff in a 1:1 let alone a rc car. And lets say you don't care about wrecking, what about the oncoming traffic that will either demolish it running over it, or swerve possibly wrecking, or causing a major accident that might kill someone. Yeah it would be cool if all goes well, but come on even with perfect road conditions your looking at at least a 2-3 min high speed run. If you have enough fuel to last that long I bet the engine(s) will not. I say if you are going to try it, do it on a quit back road, not the freeway.

here in oregon we dont have trash all over the freeways and they are also divided

You know, you don't HAVE to run the car on the freeway...that would actually be pretty dumb. All you need is to find a nicely paved road no one drive on...or very few drive on. Even if you don't have a lot of room, just find a 1:1 with a respecable 0-60 time and you'd be fine.

And I don't know about you, but a cigarette bud won't make you flip your car...last time I checked. Really all you need to look out for is the reflectors.

I'm looking at a rc calculator thing and it looks like i need to change my final drive ratio to a little more then half of what it is now to go 60 at 30,000rpm which makes sense because i would eb adding an extra engine

If you still want to go on the freeway with it i think your not appreciating the chance of other cars and stuff that could hit your car. As said previsouly try on a stret where there are hardly any 1:1 cars.
