are fm crystals interchangable between brands??? like futaba fm crystals in a JR radio? and who knows where I can get a good buy on crystal sets????? thank you

Call Fields hobby in Buffalo NY - 716-681-6440. Ask for Jay or Doug and tell them Chris told you to call (from RCNitroTalk) and they will hook you up. Not only with the answers, but, they should have the crystals too!

Thank you Chris, I talked to either Jay or Doug, not sure which. He was very nice and helpful..

LOL>.. sorry bout that.. never considered anyone else may be interested.. NO they are not interchangable.. and also they said to use the standard of only moving up or down 2 channels from the original.. ex.. ch. 70 from factory.. only buy 68, 69, 71, 72.. real nice guys at that shop..

WOW didnt know that! My JR XR3i came with 70 then I use 76 and 85 on that radio with no problems. I wonder why you can't move up or down more than 2 channels? Wierd this is the first I heard of that.

I dont want to ruin all his info with my f'd up interp. but what he told me basically was that.. JR and Futaba for example have differences in the crystal one positive one negative, (can't remember what he was referring to in the neg pos thing.. but he said it.. also.. He said that all the radios are tuned at the factory to be very very close to the channel they install.. by only moving a couple of channels from the factory default you insure yourself of staying very well tuned with the crystal or channel.. I'm sure you can get away with it most times... he was just pointing out what is best and safest.. he also really emphasized doing range checks after switching.. Peace.. Hope all that didnt lose too much in my amateur ass translation.. :)

I know what you mean Blazer.. he was referring more to checking for interference at range.. jitters ect.
