my one way bearing in my nitro sport needs to be cleaned, haven't done it yet,due to not really having any time, but the question is, should i convert over to a recoil pull start,i have been thinking about it,and it would be less stuff to lug around with me when i go out with the car.
i know i will probably get mixed opinions here, but would like to know if it is smart to do,or a matter of preferance?

thanx guys,

If you're looking to carry less stuff then the pull start would be the way to go and with a little .15 it shouldn't be hard to start. Personally I like my roto-start, but I'm also running a Picco .28 and I don't even want to think about trying to start it via pull start.

Just like you said though, it really is just a personal opinion either way.

The first thing I removed on my revo was the ez-start. I installed a pull start and threw the ez-start mechanism away.

Like you, I don't much care to carry around a starter pack and a glow heater. The ez-start didn't heat the plug well, so I had to carry it anyway. Then I had to make sure the starter batteries weren't dead, which was a pain since I had a lame charger as it was the only 7.2v thing I had to charge.

That was with my 2.5 maxx 3 years ago. As soon as I had my revo shipped to me, I had the ez-start replaced with a PS before I installed batteries in the radio.

can someone tell me exactly what i need other than the pull start?
i need to get the glow plug hot right?
i need a backplate, but the case still holds the batteries where the ez start is located.

thanx guys

You'll need a pull start appropriate for the engine you are running and a glo-ignitor. Aside from that a decent set of guns because pullstarts can give you quite the work out depending on the engine. In my monster trucks, I ran with pull starts exclusively. In my buggies, I run without pullstarts.

myself i despise a rotostart....hard on 1ways & just another batery to have to wory about & carry around.....i would go with the pullstart.....works great when the engine is tuned right.....my bigblock wasp28 starts on the 1st pull every time after its primed.......i use the glowstarter which uses a sub-c battery.....the smaller glowstarter that uses AA batery doesn't get my plug hat enough to start but arta do fine on a small engine......pullstart definately

On a similar note, the other day I screwed up and tried to start my mach 427 while it was flooded and now when I use the roto start it just free spins.

I came to the conclusion that I had stuffed the one way starter bearing so i ordered in a new one... today I was thinking is there any chance that I've worn out the starter shaft and not the bearing, or both?

Cheers,

JAD.
