I don't understand my radio problem

I have a JRxs3 75 mhz FM and my friend has a regurlar am radio . Whenever he turns his on my failsafe kicks in. So I changed channels and it was still giving me problems when he turned his on.

Is his radio set up correct? Does his rig run fine when you two aren't running the same time? Does yours? Sounds a bit wierd. Two different types of modulation..

Is he using the right crystals?

Chances are it only happens when you are standing close to each other, right?
Certain frequencies interfere only when the 2 antennas are too close.

They both run fine by their selves. Mine doesn't bother his his bothers mine.
