RC Driving Style
I'm having some money problems and need some advise on what I should do. It's actually not as severe as I'm probably making it out to be but still. My 1:1 is in desperate need of some attention. I'm not talking about modding it or anything like that it's just basic stuff but theres allot of it and it will cost a good bit to repair it all and make it reliable. My current situation doesn't allow me the funds to enjoy both hobbies (R/C and Sport Compact) so I've been considering selling a few of my R/C's to cover the costs of my 1:1 car. I've also been thinking about getting rid of my car and getting something more reliable since I primarily just drive back and forth to work and don't have the time to visit the car shows and things like I used to. I just can't make up my mind on what I want to do.I enjoy R/C so much that I can't bear getting rid of any of my cars but at the same time I need a reliable vehicle to get to work and I also enjoy modding real cars.
If I do decide to get rid of a few R/C's it will probably be my PCR and my Rustler. I have to much invested into my Savage and I will never get it back so I won't get rid of it. My TC3 is brand new and I just got it running so there is no way I'm taking a hit on that yet. If I get rid of the PCR and Rustly would it be better to part them out or just sell them outright? What can expect to sell them for too? The PCR is brand new and has about 5 tanks of fuel through it after break in.The Rustler has a little more than a gallon though it since I converted it to the TRX 2.5 and rebuilt the whole thing. Any help/advise would be very helpful. In any case it feels good to get this off my chest. It's been driving me nuts for weeks now lol.

Well,Rustlers dont fetch too much, compared to how much you have in it. The buggy .....its hit or miss, depends on how much you paid for it,and everything loses value as soon as you take it home and put fuel in it. Guess it depends on how much you can stand to lose($) vs how much you need the cash. The 1:1 is what takes you to work and lets you make the money in the 1st place. Its all up to you.

Man I think everyone has been there.....I'd look at which one of those interests you spend more on.....and dump that one. If you are in a financial low then dump all unnecessary expenses....don't go broke over a hobby......I'd say if you have a 1:1 that's nice and worth it to some compact guy then sell it and get a more reliable car that's easier to maintain.....you don't NEED the hotrod....and if you try and hold on to something that's in need of a little TLC and can't give it, you know it only gets worse.....if you can make some extra cash from selling your car to even out your finances then that's even better....I just finished getting out of debt....first time since I was 18 I havn't had a credit card payment every month.....this is the best feeling......I ended up in a ridiculous hole (all said and done it was around $45,000)because of many things but I know if I had cut losses earlier I'd be WAY better off today......now I can pay cash for my toys and if I don't have it I save up till I do....credit cards want you under their thumb, I just happen to carry around a tack for them now, HAAAHAHAAHAHA

Well I'm just catching up on my bills.I had a bum roomate who took advantage of me being a nice guy. I paid his room and board for a while and never got a dime of what he owed me. All the while he was racking up the costs by ordering cable porn and making long distance calls. I got him out of here and I'm finally caught up with everything as far as bills and my house goes but now the car is acting up and I can't afford to maintain/fix it all the time. It's a high maintanence car but it's really not worth much more than 2K the way it sits right now.I picked it up cheap with plans of rebuilding it.I managed to get it running decent and was working on the body and stuff but now something different is wrong and I can't figure it out. I'm going to work on it now and pray that it'll start and at least last me a few weeks until I can get some funds or figure out what to do.Thanks for the advise guys I'll check back later and let you know whats up.

ouch Been there man....sounds like you need to lighten the load...E-bay the hell outta your stuff....anything you can think of before the RCs though...cause you ain't gettin money out of those......get your car fixed and if it's a high maintenance dump it when you can and get a nice lil honda......what R U drivin?

if you have less than what you can get for it invested, sounds like you need to loose the car....

I agree with the others. Having a dependable 1:1 is better than having a undependable 1:1 if it's your only car.

Regardless what you do with the RC's, we all know they aren't worth much once you walk out of the LHS with them. Kind of like 1:1's but somewhat worse. If you sold all your RC's, it's not going to amount to a whole lot of extra real $ so I wouldn't bother. I'd find a way to dump the 1:1 and get something more stable.

It would be one thing if you had 20 RC's that you could get a couple hundred out of each, but will $500-$1000 really help your situation?

I hope it works out for you. I'm kind of in the same boat as you, but my 1:1 is fine... dr bills really add up though.

I got the car running again!! The damn starter went and I found some wires that were shorting out too and causing the other problems I was having. Luckily all of my friends drive the same cars and we had an extra one laying around the shop. The car BTW is a 90 Talon TSI AWD turbo. I bought it from some kid for dirt cheap because he couldn't keep it running and gave up on it. My friends and I got it running in about 10 minutes and I've been fixing everything he screwed up on it since I got it. As of right now I still need to replace the brake lines, calipers, pads, exhaust, do the body work, line the front end up, paint it, and a few other little things that I don't like but like I said the funds are getting low. I really can't complain about the car to much though.I haven't put more than $200 into it since I bought it 8 months ago and it's just regular maintanence that was ignored by the previous owner.
I do have some stuff I can sell on Ebay. I used to collect action figures a while back but sold the majority of them to catch up with everything. I actually made money selling the figures and I still allot of them left. Maybe I'll start wheeling and dealing again. I can problably get a few hundred bucks out of what I have left. I'll have to search through Ebay later and see if anything I have around the house is worth anything.I'd really hate to part with the R/C's and I'm trying as hard as I can to find other ways but I think two hobbies is one to many.If I could find a decent Honda for dirt cheap I wouldn't have to worry about the Talon breaking down but ever since Fast and the Furious came out everyone thinks Civics are like gold and want way to much for them. Thanks again for all the advise guys! It's really helped out allot and like I said before it's good to get this stuff off my chest.

that talon is a wicked car man...friend blew one up....it was fun getting there......
good luck w/ the e-bayin....

the talon isn't red w/ some custom jag susension on it is it??
I'd LMAO if it is...

lol no it's black and it's mostly stock with the exception of the solid mounts, boost controller, exhaust, and a fuel pump. They're fun cars but the are touchy and not very predictable. I've seen a few blow up myself lol.
