Well, I broke my own rule of not upgrading until it was necessary.
I went to my LHS for a shock re-build kit and we all know how hard it is to get 'just what's on the list'. They just got this in. It's the 7075 aluminum steering plate for the Storm. Aside from being made of a better grade of aluminum it comes with bearings where the stock one had bushings. It was on my list of "things I'd like to get when the stock one breaks", but I just couldn't wait.

Now you have the stock as backup!

That's what I do. Hop it up to death and keep the stock stuff around for when I bust the expensive crap. Some drive the stock stuff into the ground and then replace with better. I'd rather use better now and stock when I have too.

I hear ya olds, I don't throw anything away. Heck, I even keep the broken stuff. Never know where it might come in handy.

I keep some of it if i know its still kinda useable... If i know its never going to work again i get rid of it only if i know that for a face!
