Hi all,

I'm about to decide which one to keep.

Ok, it's about 2 buggyes:
- a GS Racing Storm RTR with an OS MAX RG engine, and
- a Hobao Hyper 7 with an Force 3.5 engine
Both from the specs have the same 1.9HP.
And both are 2nd hand products.

I only managed to run one fill with the Storm before I've took it apart for inspaction/cleaning and to replace 2 broken lower arm pin holders, and I'm still waiting for the pieces. The stupid part is that I've orderd, around 100$ worth, spare parts.

The Hobao (is it the same as OFNA?) it's still o his way. I've just won an eBay auction. I did not wanted it, realy, but it was 3 a.m. and I was sleepy. So, I have no ideea of how good it is, from the parts wear point of view.

So, from your experience, which one is better:
- which one is breaking easily?
- parts wear?
- which one do you fell it's better for racing?
- how about the maintenance, compared?
- does any of those handle a .28 Axial engine?

I've read some reviews but I cannot figure out which one is better.

Ok, maybe in less then one month, I'll have both running and be able to see which one I like best after some test trials.

The ideea is that I have to sell one at the end and I already have 3 buyers that want a 1/8 buggy, they don't have any experience, so I'm thinking of keeping the best one. I already owened an SY Topspeed buggy, very simple and nice buggy but because of the Storm I sold it.

Thanks for all.

Ask anyone on this forum on how I feel about the Storm. I have 3 pros. One running and the other two are being restored. I like the storm since they are awesome bashers. They are really easy to work and parts are still available. You can even use some Kyosho parts. That is a plus.

I have had the Hyper 7 and I like that as well. I just picked this one and stuck with it.

FYI both will take an axial 28 either pull or non pullstart. You just have to use pullstart mounts and the shims to raise the block higher.

Durability they are both on par with the norm. I think its just regular maintenance and checkups. Lower rear hinge pins on these buggies can bend and you won't notice if you are not looking well. Anything else should be easy...I think.:LOL

Jon tends to know his Storms!

With the RTR you will need front lower hindge pin braces. That and thicker(PRO) towers.

For durability and to match the Pro version, you will need both the front and rear lower hinge pin mounts. I beleive they came in two different aluminum styles for toe in. I will have to check what I have. Those are one of the best upgrades to the storm.

I have the Fioroni rear brace mount on all but one of my storms. This helps to keep your wing stay from braking your diff case on a bad landing.

Things to upgrade on a storm:

Lower Hinge pin braces:I explained this above

Rear chassis brace mount: I explained this above

Ackerman link: They can bend but a thicker one can help eliminate bump steer

Wing stay posts: the nylon ones can bend and

Chassis braces: The threaded rod braces suck....and can get stretched.

why even ask?? dude... Hyper7 all the way

why not? Read his post..He is deciding what to get rid of.

Like asking which one Savage or Revo? Both have their merits but listing out the pros and cons is a big help when choosing.

I will try to stick with the h7, the thing is a top of the line basher, and a good racer.. the h7 has tons of upgrades, and better quality parts..... The GS Storm is also a great basher, but not known as a racer.

Hi again,

Thanks for all the infos.

As I expected the decision will not be easy.

Who knows maybe I'll keep both, but I allready have another two 1/10 EP onroad cars and the EasyGlider and the EPP Edge540 and two bicycles. If I add one more buggy, to the Storm I already have, I think I'll end up sleeping outside :D .

I think that the time will tell which one is better.
When I'll receive the H7, I'll run a test round just to see how it goes.
Then I 'll disassemble it, to clean and check everything.

And, depending on which one looks better (the Storm it's already bits and pieces, so I know how it's built and what are the problem zones) I'll sell the other one.

Thanks again.

If it will not take to much time to have both buggys under test I'll post my decision here.

Have a nice day.

i love my storm pro..its a tank. I've beat the living snot out of it..(ask beason or bustedgears). It keeps on getting up for more punishment. It does have a lot of upgrades but what basher doesn't?:tank:

I believe the Knuckles, Diff assembly but you will have to replace the Diff and the ....what is that gear ..LOL.. the pinion gear ithat mates to the diff assembly.

I belive that is all I have tried.

thanks!..thats good to know....I'm thinking that the steering plate may work too. i havent tried it but i remember thinking they looked similar.
