Hello guys, new to the forum and could use some input. Does anyone know of a good threaded shock that will fit a Hyper 7 PBS PCR? I have looked at several threaded shocks but did not know if the fit was universal for most buggies. I would appreciate all input so that I can get a group to pick from and research. Thanks guys and I love the forum.

Thanks for the reply. Do you know if the titan shocks will work for the hyper 7? If so do you know the length on those shocks and if they have a different length for the front vs. the rear? They look to be the same length for both. If so I guess the 9.5 is the way to go.

why whould you want to go to the threaded shocks. The shocks that come with the pcr or pbs are plenty good.

They are good shocks, I would just like to be able to adjust them on the fly and not have to carry around spring clips. Just seems to be easier at the track. I have threaded shocks on a race set-up rc10 gt and I have grown to like them just for the quick adjustment aspect.

Tyinflies, if your possibly interested in selling/trading your stock Pro shocks, shoot me a PM... I've got some goodies for the PCR...

I'm pretty sure that the shocks on the titan are 9.5 shocks....

Ok, thanks guys, I may put them down as an option. I would like to stick with Ofna shocks because I figured they would fit without as much or any modification.

You *should* be able to fit any buggy shocks on there. I'm using K3 shocks on my Storm, and they rule (so smooth.. I love 'em.)

:2cents: Not that you asked for opinions, but I originally wanted threaded shocks myself until I realized that it's much easier to space the springs exactly the same with the spacers, and I don't have to clean the threads with a toothbrush every time I want to change the setup. We all usually carry around a bag or box of tools, screws, and parts anyways. What's a few plastic spacers. (The Kanai shocks come with these neat little things you can clip the spare spacers onto when you're not using them. It's pretty neat =))

Ya, that's a few of the reasons I like the non-threaded shocks. If I ever get different shocks on a buggy other than stock, I'd get some K3 shocks.

The threads can strip out too, if you crash and the spring scrapes against them. Then you won't be able to adjust them anymore.

Thanks guys for the good input. I never thought of the problems that could arise. I have used the threaded shocks before but never in a real race or bash situation. You all make great points. I may abandon the threaded shocks and just look into some springs and oil to adjust the ones I have to fit my driving style (which is "out of control" by the way, if thats a style). They are good shocks, and are hard coated which is a plus. Man you guys are good. I could get used to the forum thing.

lol, ya, forums are great. And you drive like me, the "drive it like you stole it" style....

That's great, yeah that is how I drive. What the hell, it's only money. Sometimes I feel like I just work to pay for whatever I am going to break this week. We go out on a weekly basis and break at least five cars. The only ones I usually remember are the times I say "watch this" and then pack up my broken car. It always looks really cool until it hits the ground. Gravity sucks!

On the bright side, it's always a great feeling when you fix the things up again =)

I always tell myself that I am breaking parts so that I can replace them with better parts. That way I get my moneys worth out of the stock parts before I break them. I just try not to break too many things that are expensive at once.

I don't actually try to break anything =)

But yea, I've made several improvements after breaking something. Although I am concious of reliability, I am more focused on a well performing buggy. Smooth, good handling, balanced, powerful, etc. Fortunately, reliability and good setup often go hand in hand.

Well I agree with you that I don't go out and try to break it. Otherwise I would have taken it out of the box and ran over it with my truck. ;) But you are getting my meaning. I hate it when I spend all of my extra cash on an upgrade and then break something else and have to park the buggy for a while. I have a tendency to test a cars tolerences so that I have trust in the quality before I bank a racing season on it. Luckily the new buggy I have now seems to handle anything I can throw at it, so far. (knock on wood)
