with a budget of $200 save some of it and get the wasp 26 ( $160 ) or the ofna 26. ( $180 ).both are the same picco mills. probably the best power for under $200.00. you may want to ask some of the members about os, i've had no personal experience with them. moving up to the next level will be quite a bit more.

well anything thats not a pull start wil require a 50-100$ starter box.. so rb is still out of his budget.. 8 port is a PIA for a beginner to tune and solve its stupid issues.. the Picco/orion has some issues but more of a newbie engine.. BUT I've heard life on it is 5-7 gal till worn out.. mine has like 2.5 on it.. rb ill be learning very very soon.. :)

The S7 does not have the competion grade conrod and lacks the special coating on the crank shaft that protects the rear bearing. If I was going RB, I'd go ws7II and not peepee around with the S7.

The 8-port is a great bargain engine if you're looking to stay race legal. If you don't care about being race legal or if you're just bashing, go for the picco (more balls).

Just to warn you -- the diff gears in the Lightning may crap out on you with a new engine. I put the Kyosho Inferno MP 7.5 diff gears in mine. I think someone else put Savage diff gears in. *shurg*

any other parts i should buy before i get a new engine. iam still not sure on what i should buy. i just want to bash and have good top speed. some links would be great. i have $250 to spend

Well just for bashing the Picco .26 will get you plenty of bang for the money, otherwise if you go all the way with $250 on a .21 then try the Paris SBK-01 or TFC (wickedrs01) modified SBK-01 or the RB S7 as mentioned but the WS7II for $275 is a better choice.

I myself am getting a Novarossi/Rex P5 which sets me back $265-300 depending on who I get it from.

is there a engine comparason chart some place. if any one knows about one that would help alot. so many engines hard to juggle them all :juggle:

There is no engine comparrison chart that I know of. If there is my first reaction is it is bogus.

When talking about engines, and testing power there are SO many different variables when testing that power that is leaves room to scue or "play" with the numbers.

You will see that some of the "best" engine manufacturers (by reputation) do not put a BHP rating on their engines do to the many different ways of rating the horse power. Some exapmles to help put it together for your are Company A dyno's their engine at the crank, while Company B dyno's their engine at the clutchbell gear. Company A is in Colorado and Dyno's at 5000+ ft and Company B Dyno's their engine at sea level.

I use bhp ratings as a general guestiment, not to say that some companies methods are not dead on as some are true blue. Also what percentage of nitro fuel and types of oils used come into play, as well as ambient temp, and humidity.
