So I'm thinking pretty hard about getting an OFNA Hyper 7 TQ black, and have plenty of dumb questions that someone would likely be able to answer.

#1.
On different sites I see different engines, either the Mach .28, the Mac Star .28, and the product descriptions it often says Hyper .28. Are these all just different names for the same thing? If not, which is the best?

#2.
It's 4wd right?

#3.
The copypasted looking product descriptions say "Fuel: 2-cycle glow fuel with 10%-15% nitromethane, 16% lubricant." Would I really have to get different fuel than my 20% O'Donnells?

#4.
Am I going to be able to pop wheelies with this? Just a little thing that I would like to be able to do, no real reason why, just think it would be neat.

#5.
Most reviews say that the stock steering servo will crap out relatively early, I'm not finding a set of horns for servos with different amounts of teeth, know where I can get one?

Thanks guys, have a llama. :llama:

1. Same engine. Just described different.
2. No wheelies due to it has a center diff instead of transmission so it evens the power out best to front and rear.
3. 4wd
4. 20% odonnells will be fine but i prefer Byrons gen2 20% with 16% oil.

Oh and 5. I recommend a good hitech or savox servo on both throttle/brake and steering.

Another quickie question, it's currently 80s-90s outside here, and I run 20% nitro. Should I go with a medium plug?

Well, I ended up getting one, and here are some pics of it.

#1: The mac* .28 and pipe next to my trx2.5 on my (look away rolex) jato.
I knew it would be significantly bigger, but it still surprised me.

#2, 3: body off.

#3, 4: body on.

Sealed the engine last night, mounted engine and trimmed edges of the body tonight.
Real excited to break it in and run it tomorrow :D

Probably should have got the newer Ultra LX2....same price but newer kit. I suspect the Hyper 7 is going to be discontinued in the next year or two. Thats just a guess but given as how the Hyper 7 has been out for a long time and the LX2 is basically the same exact kit that would be my guess.

I use a hot plug in my .28's and my .30 along with usually 20% Odonnell's sometimes 30% Odonnells. Just remember when using Odonnells it only has 8% oil so you have to becareful with your tune. Not as much room for error as fuel with 12-16% Fuel.

As for Servos if you dont want to spend the money on a good Savox or Hitec then Id suggest looking at these.

Well I got the engine broken in today.
towards the end though, the steering servo broke after I bumped a curb doing 6~8 mph.

Probably will get one of the cheapservoman ones. They don't say anything about how many teeth are on the gear, or whether or not they come with horns. Any idea on the number of teeth, and where I can get horns?
Thanks.

I almost bought that same buggy but went with the HPI trophy 3.5 buggy instead. Mainly because of it being waterproof! I'm anxious as heck about receiving it tuesday from ups. This will be my first of several buggies to come as i can afford them in the future.

Another quick observation/question.

I'm having a little trouble getting the engine to sit at a temperature within the normal accepted range of 220-240f. I seem to either be slobberingly rich, and in the 215ish range, or if I get it lean enough to scream its pushing 280. Any advice on how to get the temps down, or an idea on what I might be doing wrong?

Thanks.

Hey I've been working a ton of overtime lately, haven't had a lot of time to fix my rigs. Funny thing about overtime however, is that it yields more spending cash :D.

So cheapservoman has gone and upped all his prices by around $20, making them far less of a great deal. After a bit of looking around, I found this with a relatively low pricetag per oz. http://www.amainhobbies.com/product...Standard-Digital-High-Torque-Metal-Gear-Servo

It's larger than standard, but says stuff about being for 1/8th scale stuff. Should work fine?

He fluctuates the price of his servos all the time. keep checkin back with him. I wanna say they came with a servo horn but I can't remember 100% for sure. IDK the spline count on it. I've never stopped to check.

Right before he switched all his prices to $45 I asked, they do come with horns, and 27 tooth.

But will the savox fit?

I've never heard of a 27T spline....I'm pretty sure they arent 27T cuz I'm fairly certain that I have futaba servo horns on mine. Id have to double check though...I'm at work right now though. I've been wrong before... heh

Dear themuddaload,

Thanks for your interest. Yes, the servos come with horns and there are 27 teeth on the gear. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

his reply

I dont doubt he said it, I'm just wondering if he didnt typo it or something cuz i could have sworn that I used futaba horns on mine but like I said i could be mistaken. I'll have to check when I get home. In fact the more I think about it the more I am certain of it cuz I just switched out the plastic servo horn on my High Speed rustler with an aluminum Futaba one last weekend. I know I did that so it can't be 27T.
