hyper 10 identification

hi guys,

i just bought a hyper 10 from ebay as a fixer upper and was wondering if any of you could tell me specifically which one it is:

i received it this morning and I'm disappointed to say the very least.

most of it is ok, wheels are junk as far as I'm concerned but the main thing it needs the engine ) is shot.

i pulled it apart and the sleeve is ok ( steel ) the piston is scored badly, connecting rod is bent and it looks like some one used some kind of grips to bend it back as its left severe marks in it. both bearings are buggered too. crank looks to be fine.

so if i want to use this engine its a complete rebuild almost and with that in mind i would much rather buy a new but cheap .21 to plonk in it instead of this acme racing .18 that it came with.

It doesn't look like its in the best shape. If that engine is shot I hope you didn't pay much for it.

only good thing to come out of it is 2 half decent servo's......i suppose i could build a drag car with both chassis but i dont know if i can be bothered atm.

Well you still seem to have a good project pile now. Two chassis several sets of wheels all the suspension parts and engine mounts. The header looks beat to hell but the pipe may still be ok. Just shop ebay for all your replacement parts and you could still end up with a nice rig for less than $300 depending on the engine you choose to buy.

only wanted it as a cheapy basher, not looking to spend too much on it to be honest.


i was thinking of turning it into a monster truck / crawler type thing as it has 14mm hex wheels, some 1/8 wheels are 14mm like some 1/8 hpi's, tamiya's.

what .18 engine is that I'm looking for one i want a nicer looking cooling head id be interested in the junk engine & possibly the exhaust pipe

cooling fins on top are damaged buddy, the header pipe is bent alot and the exhaust had the outlet cut short. i dont think its worth a lot to be honest.

damn definitely used and abused i got a HPI .15 FE engine sat here seems to have compression

needs a OWB and pull start oh and the throttle leaver for the rotary carb i kinda lost it and a clutch & fly wheel kit so will be looking for a donor engine for that

shame about that engine people should really learn to look after stuff better

i remember when i bought a job lot on ebay it was a HB tornado

car was missing to many parts to bother rebuilding but did come with 2 AM transmitters and lots of other little bits and pieces that are useful ( AM crystals fuel bottles filter oil ect )

i would take £15 posted for the engine, i expect the carb, flywheel and clutch are the same. failing that, are you considering selling your .15?

I'm afraid alot of people use and abuse there rc kits, not a care in the world. shame really.

if you like i will post some pics of it tomorrow it has some compression but probably will need a new piston and sleeve soon i would just take the cost of postage for it

probs give it a miss buddy, just brought a Hobao dominator MT 1/8 so will concentrate on that.
