I have a Slash 4x4 that I park bash (regular park, not skate-board), and running stock gearing and 2S or 3S batteries, it has been a durable rig. Big jumps, for me, are for the Hoss or Rustler... both of which share most drive line parts with the Slash.

I've not broken a suspension part yet, but have spares on hand just in case. I will say all 8 of my Traxxas 1/10 4x4s have either the Extreme Heavy Duty or aluminum hubs and carriers. All of them also have aluminum shocks and a center diff instead of a slipper. I think the Stampede 4x4 is the only one that comes with three diffs from the box.

your opinion is fully respected... but at this point, I feel a tekno would be wasted on me...looks pro-level.

It will never be frustrating to work on though. I like my Tekno stuff, but don't let the name fool you, I have plenty of the cheap stuff that breaks all the time.
A used one is the way to go.

I never really raced except slot cars and 1:1 drag racing. I can imagine a Slash class would be a lot of fun.

I used to race 1/24 slots also, esp vintage...still have a ton of 60's cars.

I bought a Pro 4 two months back - out of the box it is a jewel. I am just a guy with RC cars, no racing here where I live. I did Nitro years back in RC cars and they just eat money like Nitro RC airplanes do. To just buy something to have a blast with it that does not eat, the Pro 4 is a winner. I have had no heat issues and just chalk it up to idiots with RC's on YouTube.... The hair bonnet thing is new to me, but it works surprisingly well! I have owned a number of brands over the years, and purchased 3 Team Associated RTR cars new as of now. Out of the box I have never been disappointed with their products.

Upgrades can be a double edged sword when you go down that rabbit hole. Anybody can drive an RC car over their head, but out of the box Team Associated products have always been solid. You can't go wrong buying one.

AE Pro4SC10 owner here. Racer. Can't be happier. I'd say it's race ready. For SCT. Which is more about fun than winning.

All you have to do is pick out proper tires, charge your batteries, ensure things are tight/lubed maybe figure out the proper pinion gear for the track, and practice your skillz. Yes, that is all.

Did I mention driving skills?

Oh and be sure to talk a bit of razzoning to your friends on the driving stand. That's the best

Edit: I did upgrade the shocks to the blue aluminum shocks AE sells. Mostly to have two sets of shocks with different shock oil weights. To see how it would affect handling. Depending on the track. And it would be easy to swap out. Versus changing the oil. I'm a nerd like that.

I looked at a lot of the options and the Tekno 2.0 is the beefiest thing i could find. Drives great, very durable.

I don't know what to say. The aluminum arms look great but may come back to haunt you. One good cartwheeling tumble action may put forces on the hinge pins that the chassis can't handle. Or, an arm gets bent.

I know it's an old thread, but I'll add my 2 cents; I started with a Pro4 RTR for racing at my local 1/8 and 1/10 outdoor tracks (and 1/10 indoor occasionally too). It was great for learning to drive and I did eventually get a couple Podiums with it (after upgrading to a faster motor etc) but was itching to try something else. Now, please bear in mind that I'm trying to do this racing thing on a DAD BUDGET or I would've just dropped the cash on a Tekno rig like everyone else... I eventually scooped a used Losi TT Pro (basically budget/basher version of SCTE) from ebay and it was MUCH BETTER and easier to drive than the Pro4. I think the Pro4 was just too lightweight and getting thrown around/out of control too much- even after extensive performance mods. I sold off the Pro4 and started getting podiums with the TT Pro. Eventually added proper race electronics (HW XR8 and 4300kv motor), tires etc. and battled with the Tekno's every weekend. Never had any complaints about durability with either one, but the stock electronics in pretty much any RTR will have to be changed once you start chasing podiums. Can't see any way around that... Not sure I'd bother with a Traxxas if you want to race as I've never really seen one that's competitive. I'm sure folks have done it, but prob a road to frustration... For no particular reason I just don't want to race a Tekno like everyone else, and have seen my fair share of breakages/stripped spurs etc. from the Tekno guys while my Pro4 and Losi just kept on trucking. It was pretty rare to DNF due to broken parts and the 2 tracks I frequented didn't have an onsite hobby shop anyways... Plus it kinda seems like the newer Tekno's are basher type builds?? with tons of plastic parts and nosediving issues?? Idk. I'm now eyeballing a Habao...

Pro4 racer here. There is def some jealousy from the other racers how it just keeps trucking. As goofy as it looks/handles. I did break a front a-arm. But that was not racing, that was my kid running it into the garage door at full speed. HA. She get's her own car now

I was hoping its predecessor wasn't far behind when Horizon Hobby discontinued the SCTE 3.0

I at one time had planned for a TT Pro to be in my hands. No doubt about it, the Tenacity TT Pro had a lot going for it.

Are you referring to the Hobao SC 2.0?
