Hi,
"Pulling or Yanking" the Savage X 4.6 engine out of my hpi 106364 Savage X 4.6 Big Block, to replace both motor and Roto-Start 2 back plates, really didn't take much more than but to remove the fuel tank, which couldn't be easier, and unscrew 4 screws from underneath the motor mount. Heck, the roll cage over my motor didn't even have to be removed. These cars are built tough, yet as well, a cool light breeze to repair or exchange parts off of, or to upgrade them all, is mostly very simple. Even for us folks who haven't had to do major "brain salad surgery" to replace pistons and sleeves or bearings, YET!!
But looking forward to burning 10 gallons to get there!! varrooom~varrooom...

hahaha, my iPad wants to spell check correct varrooom...

Chas

The Savage 4.6 and older versions(25, 25LE, 21etc) are a bit tougher(read: more annoying..) to work on, as you DO need to dis-assemble quite a bit more on the truck to get a simple thing out like the spur gear. Diffs are also annoying to get at as well. I do love the old style bulkheads and arms though as far as durability goes, they are alot beefier and I've broken much less of them than the newer 'X' style. The older radio box takes small body clips to keep on as well, and you're always losing them out in the bash spot.

But all in all, since the release of anything 'X' and newer, the Savages have made awesome improvements towards ease of access.

^ +1 to what les said my .25 was a pain to work on.. but I do have to say buggies have always been easy to work on, for me. I just like MTs alot more. I wish there was a real 1/5th MT that has good aftermarket support.

i've been looking @ the truggy 4.6.think i'm going to order it in a few weeks.the only thing is the steering servo is weak, susp. needs set up.but hey thats part off it.

[QUOTEhey watch this![/QUOTE]

I don't think so, its easy to removed the spurgear of a savages just to removed the tank and then you have also access on the spur gear, even not removing the engine, and regarding the diff only 2 screw on the bumper and 6 on the diff no need to removed even the tire and suspenssions and evento removed the whole transmission its very easy just to removed one side plate here some photos of mine just finished maintenance of it. even the front and back suspession still there and the engine.

Right, I agree. You may have misread my post. I mentioned the OLDER Savages are more annoying to work on, and harder to get at. Yours is an X, which i mentioned was easier to work on.

oh, ok, sorry, cause I thought you've mentioned 4.6 and mine is also 4.6 but only with x. I stand corrected. Thanks bro for clarifying.

No worries man! :) Before the X4.6(yours) model there was just a '4.6' model, it was basically just the 25, with the 4.6 engine.
