i like running in the snow too but just hate having to trod through the yard's 4ft deep snowbanks to get to my stuck truck that broke through is a real PITA

Having done some rather serious damage to myself on bikes, I do understand your concerns. If at first you crash and burn, but a bigger bike!!!
