Aside from my penchant for RCs, I also try really hard to provide the spooky for Halloween. My wife and I are known in our neighborhood for having the scariest house for two hours out of each year. We also get dressed up along with our kids for adding the full affect. This year was a perfect night for providing the scare. In fact, we had some kids that did not even make it up the driveway and most that did ran from the porch screaming when I made my appearance. Needless to say it was fun. Here are some images of what the kids saw...

First the view as they saw it...

The little one in the vampire outfit is my four year old. The twin ghosts are two.

Next the entry way to our house (imagine it being nearly black with a low wattage red light and black lights providing the only lighting...my wife is the vampire in purple and minded the treats while I provided the scares...

If the kids managed to get into the driveway or up to the door, they might have seen the yard in a little better lighting...not quite as lit as the flash shows...

After the trick or treaters had called it a night...the slayer (my sister-in-law) came out with the rest of the little spooks...

Hope you all had a great night and treated the kids well...I know there are a few in my neighborhood that won't look at me or my house in the same light from now on...

thats good stuff sky i to do a big set up but i didn,t take any pics.your did how ever out do mine (Ill get you next year)lol...i did how ever make two kids wet them selfs and a few run away..and it didn,t help when i went down to the end of my drive way to give them candy

LMAO...I think half of the kids didn't come to the house this year because of the school night and all, BUT those that did all got a good scare. I don't know if I made anyone wet themselves, but I also had the same problem with trying to give those that had the scare of their lives some candy. Heck even when we sent the four year old out with a bucket to give candy to those who wouldn't come near me or the door, they left empty handed. Apparently the four year old vampire is a frightful sight.

It was great fun for all...

Wow, SkyMaxx, you really go full out. Pretty slick. Never, in my lifetime have I made anyone wet themselves, so there's my goal for next year.

when i was a kid, we had a guy down the street who would actually dig a grave in his front yard and hide in it. man did we all jump when he came up out of there in his outfit. the yard was done up a lot like sky's as well.

I had thought about digging a shallow grave in which to hide, but I just couldn't bring myself to digging up my yard. I have a hard enough time keeping it green...which you can see from some of the pictures is not an easy task...damn bermuda and crab grass.

Aww man this reminds me of when I live in Terre Haute. A good friend and I would totally deck out his house. We made full size coffins, fake fog, spider webs, and full life size dolls such as Frankenstein, Jason and so on. The entire front of his two story house was decorated. To add to it we'd set this up about a week in advance so people could get used to it, then come Halloween we'd replace some of the dummies but not all with real live dummies (us) also dressed up this way when the kids came up they'd think they where fake...that didn't last long! :D

In fact we'd been doing it for a few years and the last year we did it we had so many people bringing camera's and video camera's to capture the fun. We also had two TV news crews stop by and check it out! Nothing like scaring a few people!

We tried the old switcheroo thing but found the house being non-descript up until the actual day was more effective. So I actually hold everything until the morning of Halloween. Yes, they see me setting things up during the day...but come nightfall the place is just eerie. So the element of surprise is damn close to complete, and there are many screams and spooked children. Heck we even scare parents from time to time. Can't quite say how many people I have spooked, but each year it is a fair number of children and parents alike.

If you guys want some Hardcore stuff to scare people with go here:

The guy who runs this is my guitar teacher, I know him personaly and he is an amazing artist and he hand airbrushes all his props. He put on a Halloween party at our house once and he made an adult cry! (lol) I'm sure you could make someone wet themselves with some of this stuff lol!

SkyMaxx,...great job!!! How long did that take to decorate?.......My wife and I spend hours decorating our house for Christmas....aproxx half a day or so.

I will have to post some pics early next moth.

BTW....NICE house.

Whatcha got planned for Christmas, Sky? I'll be lucky if I get the motivation to put the icicle lights on our house. That's as far as I go.

Man, I thought that we went all out but nothing quite like yours SkyMaxx. It looks like you have 3 children under 5 years old. Oh man oh man.....Great pics!

thats great!!!

me and my dad used to do this but when we lived in FL but since we moved to VA we only get like 10 trick or treaters per halloween so we just chill out and pass out candy...but we'll be moving this summer and next halloween we'll be back to scary some kids!

I started the decorating at about 10 o'clock in the morning. Finished it around 4 o'clock in the afternoon. Had just enough time to scarf down some pizza. Then it took me almost an hour to get my "mask" on. It is one of those Hollywood style masks where you glue the latex applications on and then use make-up to blend it in.

It looks pretty spooky in the light of a camera flash. It looked pure evil in the dark or lit by the red lights in the yard. Needless to say there were some spooked kids out there.

As for Christmas, Halloween trumps Christmas in our house for decorations. Christmas gets a kind of tame treatment. We have a cream colored house with broccoli green shutters. The shutters get red bows, each window gets an electric candle, and then the roof line gets the icicle light treatment. We have an 11 foot tall tree that goes in the window beneath where the giant spider was in the halloween pictures. Then the rest of the house gets Christmas knick-knacks that the wife and I have collected here and there. But as I said, we have far more Halloween stuff than Christmas.

As for the kids...yup. All three under five (5). In fact the oldest is only four, just turned in the Summer.

AC48, thanks for the link. I'm certain my wife would love to add a couple of those to the collection. I'm not certain I could sleep at night with that stuff under my roof, but then again...I already have a bunch of creepy stuff.

No problem Sky, if you ever need anything from him or something I can talk to him for ya.
