Got this for $1 at a local RC market. I forgot about their existence while doing RC cars, because the ones with a battery are much more practical for me.
Now, with planes, I'll be starting them at my starting station either way, so it'll be easier to use this one.
I have two wires, do I simply attach them to a direct current from any battery or does it have to be a certain voltage? Some glowplug ignitors are 1.5V and some are 3.7V. What's better? Can I use a voltage converter/BEC from 12V to 3.7V like this one?

They all step down to 1.5 (or a little less) volts - if you apply 3.7V to a glow plug it'll blow immediately. You want about 3 amps max throughput, some glow plugs will pull more than that if your supply allows it and tries to hit them with 1.5V exactly, so it may take some trial and error if you're DIY'ing a glow plug driver.
