I see several questions concerning hard starting, not starting, won't stay running nitro engines. My premise for this, and following post, is to hopefully shed light on some of these quandaries. So if you need this information, here it is. Keep in mind, this information (as a whole) is not the end all be all, but there is a cornerstone paradigm for all nitro engines, and that is what these post will cover.
Let's begin:
  1. Nitro engines are essentially two-stroke diesel engines, in that, they combust off compression to run.

  2. Nitro engines have port timing instead of a distributor or electronic ignition, this makes the tuning the carburetor unique.

  3. Nitro engines are sensitive to barometric pressure, ambient temperature, and relative humidity. So, any time one, or all three of these change, tuning of the engine must take place to ensure peak performance and engine safety.
This is just a start, but by understanding what one is working with, a person can systematically work through all issues and have more fun and less stress.
