I want to remove the anodizing on some parts I have. NCNitro mentioned at the bash to use easy-off and heating it, but i dont remember the details. I bought the easy off, now i just need some exact directions, as what i am removing the anodizing from is a one-of custom part, and can't be replaced if damaged. Thanks in advance for the help.

NA, no heating necessary. I just put whatever I want to remove the anno off in to a stainless steel sink, which btw will be nice and clean when your done. Spray original easy off in the yellow can on the parts, and let it sit about 5 min, then rinse it off. You may have to do it a few times to get all the anno off. Just don't let it sit a long time or the easy off will pit the aluminum. I have stripped the anno off many parts this way, it works great. It will also stip the fake chrome off plastic bumpers and such, and won't hurt the plastic at all. I then will polish the parts I strip, then finally wipe them down real well with never dull, this will help keep the parts looking good, and help prevent oxidation.

NA i know you mit not trust me on this because it seems to me that you don't like me very much but i have seen on here that someone with an hb lightnig didnt like the purple parts and he turned them silver. He said that he used oven cleaner. He said that it tool some time but it worked. He even had pics in a thread or the galery but it seems to have worked for him.
Lata,
Nick

NCNitro - thanks. I picked up the non-smelly kind of easy off. will it still work? You say let it sit for about 15 minutes before washing off? I have some neverdull, so we are cool there.

Lightningboy - I have no beef with you. You had some posts in the past that i wasn't too happy with, but that is in the past. If you could provide a link for the thread you are talking about, that would be great.

NA, if you want I can have whatever you need to be removed done here at my shop. Sandblasting and bugging. Of course it would prove to be more cost effective if you send a lot of parts to compensate for the shipping cost. PM and let me know.

Diver - thanks alot for the offer, however, it is just 2 a arms, so it isnt really worth it. I am gonna give the easy off trick a shot tonight.

Yup seems like it works pretty good and it looks ok to me. Ask robh about doing it and maybe he can tell you exactly hoe he did it. Nick

I have heard that the original yellow can works the best. I stripped around 30 parts on the CyberMaxx and had no issues with it.

I did find that heating the parts up first decreased the time and number of re-dos to get them clean. Another trick I found was to take them directly out of the pan and wash them off right a way under warm watter using a fine scotch bright and a tooth brush.

If you do a search I know of at least 3 threads dedicated to or mentioning the process.

Eddy, so I should wash them off first prior to scrubbing? Or scrub before i wash them?

NitroAddict
he means that you have to turn the water on the scrub the thing while the water goes over it.

Scrub the parts under hot water with a scotch bright to remove the oven cleaner. The scotch bright will also polish the parts and remove the black / dull look.

Wear gloves and spray in an open ventilated aria.

well - it turned out not to be anodizing, it was powdercoating. seemed i was wrong. oh well. - oven cleaner didnt work for poop. but i am in the process of trying something else, and if that doesn't work, I'm just gonna dye them.
