How many of you spend time in the toy aisle?

I was just there, today. I go to my local Super Walmart about once a week. It's nearly one stop shopping, for me.

Any particular reasons why you avoid it?

The “clientele” mostly.. -and they don’t have anything I need that I don’t get elsewhere..

I used to years ago anytime the girl would voluntold me into accompanying her on a trip to Wally World.. The HotWheels finds were the best way for me to stomach it.. These days however-I avoid that place like The Plague.. I’ve managed to only be in there once in the last 12yrs or so now..

I figure we're only on this orb once (I don't see me comin' back) so if it puts a smile on my face or makes life that much more enjoyable...well? My grandmother's favorite saying was "When you see it buy it. Chances are it won't be there when you come back". I try to live by grandma's words .

Plus I was totally unaware there was such a thing as TBA. No, not "To Be Announced" rather "Toy Buyers Anonymous". I've heard of it but never thought it was real. Guess I know now .

Believe me broseph, I have waaaaay more toys than I deserve, and top them off regularly as I see fit (which is an absurd amount IMO).. I’m pretty damned old to be the perpetually 14yrs old that I am..

There’s just simply nothing at Walmart that I can’t live without, was all I was saying.. That’s likely the last store I was ever in that I happened to purposely grace the toy isle(s), and that was specifically for HotWheels finds.. I eGay’d my HotWeels collection back around 2013-14 or so for a good chunk of change, and gave a buncha other enthusiasts the opportunity to enjoy them..

Same here. Once in awhile there might be someone I can't understand their manners or fashion sense, (pajamas and house slippers), so when I feel the gag reflex come on I either look the other way or run to the other side of the store. Yes, I've tried Target but the pricing there is a bit heavy to lift. Plus my back can't handle that anymore .

Really, my biggest toys, most expensive, and the best I'll ever own are my six motorcycles. Not quite sure what I'd do without 'em. Curl up in a ball and pass on I guess.

I have 6 Walmarts inside 20 miles of me. I guess that may be why the one I frequent is typically not jammed pack.

I should be more often. I was last at wally World in the toyz aisles to buy lego charger for my nephew. I miss Toyz'R'Us, and Child World, and Kay Bee, and stuff.
I was a Toys for Tots Shop Foreman. It was like the fox in charge of the hen house.

Our local Walmarts are overcrowded with not the brightest bulbs. But I think that depends on when you go. I think it's a California problem. Target has gone down hill too in post Covid era.

I think the only times I have been in either in the last several years, was to look at Legos.

Ours were pretty normal last time I was there. But go at 3am...

Rules of engagement:
1.) Never go to Wally's World on the weekend, only Mon. - Wed. from 8am to 10am
2.) Have your phone in hand with your list of essentials to acquire.
3.) Never go on an empty stomach.
4.) Never, and I mean neveeeeer, go without your personal music however you choose to listen to it.
5.) Every sixth visit schedule in 5 minutes Toy isle time, 10 minutes during the Christmas holiday season.
6.) At all cost avoid eye contact with any greeter stationed at the entrance. If engagement is unavoidable keep the conversation to name, rank and serial number . Kiddin', I love gabbin' with people.

In fact, we're planning a trip soon to a store that does an awesome Christmas display and sells tons of Christmas décor. We were supposed to go yesterday but we got our first winter weather and we would have had to driven through the worse of it.
But, they have a HUGE to selection, and a lot of it is toy cars, dies cast cars, rc cars (not hobby grade), model trains, etc...

After the holidays, when I'm officially retired, I may pick up the hobby of going to those stores just to park my cart sideways in the toy aisles, since I won't be in any rush.
