Yea I was just wondering what the limit to your engine loll is
I have like 11 gallons on my savage .25 engine an it still seem to be running strong. Its holding tone niceles and it rids wheely on comand nice top end lol I'm just wondering how mush more hell she can go throuwn before she die lol

i keep hearing people saying things like your engine sould last 6 to 8 gallon of gas before need to replace the engine lol

wow this has been along time senses i have been on this form! It’s kind of good to be back loll

There is no real amount of fuel they last. It all depends on how well you take care of them and how well you can tune. I have motors that are going into there 5th year of racing and still run fine no issues.

I had airplane engines (1 in particular) since 1993... never done anything but starting up, scream & shut down... no clue as to how much fuel it has seen, but it was used when I got it! BTW, it still runs fine...

I'm on 19 with my P5 I bought from Slothy here on RCNT...not sure how much fuel he ran on it but it wasn't much.....it could use a pinch soon but still holds a tune fine and has blistering power on tap......
the closest I've ever come to a mill lasting this long before was an RG I put just over 10 gallons on before blowing it up by seeing how lean I could get it and what power it was going to give.....

The most I got through one was 12 and that was an OS 21RG. I average around 10 before I want something else or get it pinched.

The OS I got 12 through I had pinched and I think I'm on 15 now.

I've got an old tmaxx with a worn out pro.15 in it that I snagged off ebay. I ran about a half gallon of Odonnell 20% through it before I just couldnt keep it running. I recently bought a piston and sleeve for it but I've been wondering if it will run like new again or will I still have problems with it? I plan on fixing it up for my son (12yrs old). Should I even bother with it? Thanks in advance.

I don't keep track, it reminds me of how much I spent on fuel. Added to the 300 bills for the mill and plugs...ugh I'll stop now.

wen these thing go in any mill the piston and linearget a new one soon the bearings will go in that mill

better off didnt get taht piston and liner for the price you payed for them you couldve bought a new engine al toggher

well i only paid $30 for the piston and liner so its no big deal there. I thought about just going to a 2.5 but the whole truck is worn out pretty much and I dont want to poor money into it and have my son try to impress his friends by attempting to jump over the garage like on youtube lol. So I shouldnt bother renewing the piston and liner in any motor? I've also been trying to figure out just what "mill" stands for... and be gentle on this newb please.:dumb:

Think of a nitro engine as an Air and Fuel "mill".......air in .....add fuel and ignite....... repeat.......equals horsepower. The tighter and faster that happens the faster you go.

That kinda sucks.. I was thinking that once your engine wears out you could just go out and slap a new piston/sleeve in it and break in again then you set for a while. I may need to get a second job to support this hobby hehehhe. I guess thats why I hear alot of people saying the break in is very important. Glad I broke my revo in before i went balls to the walls with it. Oh and sorry for kinda changing the thread subject thetmaxxman

ya well the gas prices at the hobby store has gone up big time. for 20% gas I'm pay $29 bucks for the stuff. the last gallon i payed for was $22.99. I hat all the money i have spent in gas just gone down the drain

It looks like I'm going to have to buy my gas on towerhobby now. 18.99 for a gallon. . but you can only get it in only 4 gallon which is like 89 bucks I'm might have to split the cost between my friends lol

wonce my engeine die I'm going brussless in my truck. I think! I'm going to run 2 bruchless moters by Castle Creations with like 12 amp of lithium battery, I'm going to costom build the batterys, it will cost but i think it might save my money in the long run.

Think again, going brushless and lipos will not save you money, even in the long run. Batteries eventually diminish in their capacity and motors wear out just like any other part and need to be replaced periodically.

Our hobby is expensive. If the cost of nitro fuel is a major issue, it might be time to find another hobby.

finding anouther hobby is not a option lol

I'll agree with Sweet!
Fuel may be expensive but if I consider how much fun 1 gallon of that stuff brings and calculate hopups, parts and everything else, fuel is really not all that bad. :radio:

Notwithstanding this absolute gibberish and nonsense, by replacing the piston and sleeve you are pretty much getting a like-new engine. I had a the Pro .15 in an older T-Maxx that I swapped the piston/sleeve on, never had to replace bearings, and it lasted quite a long time (I'd say close to 25-30 gallons between boths sets of pistons and sleeves).

By no means is this a blanket statement surrounding all engines (unlike nitro_freaks assertion that ALL engines blow their bearings once the piston and sleeve are replaced). Best thing to do is pop the engine bearings out when you have the engine apart to replace the piston and sleeve and check them. Clean them up and if they need replaced, replace them or just oil 'em up and put them back in.

Hey thetmaxx guy, Tower doesn't tell you about the HAZMAT shipping charge on that case of fuel until you get to the checkout. You'll still be better off getting it at you lhs, cause you can get a whole gallon or two for what you will pay in shipping.

I'm seeing myself as fortunate here, I get Byron's Race 3000 (30%) for $21/gallon

Hey Jetmech that byrons smells good it smells like a fresh shot shotgun shell.
