Not any more, NHRA has reduced the length of their tracks this year to 1000 feet. I guess to give a litle more of a shutdown area at the end of the track. I have kind of lost interest in it any more with the shortened racing length. I mean a real drag race has been a 1/4 mile forever, now imo it's just too short for top fuel.

I'm all for safety in such a dangerous sport, but build longer runoffs. DON'T change a tradition.
So what happens next, when there's a fatality on the 1000 foot track? I guess they'll require restrictors to keep the cars under 55.

well since 1:1 drag tracks are usually 1320ft a 1:10scale track would be 132ft and so on with whatever scale you are running

they only reduced it to 1000ft for the funny cars and top fuels...everything else still runs the 1/4 mile

you guys rock, every time i have a question, everyones on it in no time.
Thanks.
I am running 1/10 scale, Ntc3 all hopped up. I'm trying to break 100 mph top speed, not in a short 132 ft. unless its possible. right now i have a picco .12 on road red dot. is there a .12 motor that can reach rpms like that with more power?

yeeeeah, that would suck!!!!! I'm not really sure what i would do with my self.
I've been slowly working on this car for about four years now. Id take a week off work to mourne over my baby.i plan on getting as much video footage as i can because of that.:

MGT8.0 is correct. The standard distance for r/c drag racing is 132 ft. Depending on the class of car you can expect to see speed and times in the range of 85-102 or so mph in around 2 seconds or so I think. Pretty sick.

You will be a lot more likely to hit those kind of speeds with a electric 1/10th drag then you will with nitro. Good Luck!!! and get us some video.
