i was just taking the engine mount and everything i need off my engine to get it ready for when my new os .30 comes and i cannot get the clutch bell off. is there a special trick to this? the crankshaft just turns when i try to get it off and I've tried it still but it doesn't wanna come off..what do i do?

also, do you use threadlock on an engine? such as putting the screws in to hold the head on?

Use a pair of pliers to hold the flywheel and take the screw off. Yes use blue lock tight to place it on the new engine.

yes it is. You will need to do the same when you take of the fly wheel.

well i have that off now..everything up to the slipperclutch is off..how do i get that off? i checked the manual but i guess since that didnt come with the engine itself its not there.

The slipper clutch is on the spur gear. You should not have to take that off if you are replacing the engine. Do you mean the clutch shoes? If you mean the clutch shoes you just slide them off the nut and shaft.( Nitroghost taught me all this:banana:) Be sure to pay attention to how the springs fit the shoes so you can put them back on.Take a pic if you need to. Hey Nitroghost, I hope it cools down soon so we can run some more....been too long:puke:
Hope this helps you out Dog.

yes clutch shoes. i remembered that after i posted and got off last night. seems like its just too tight to pull off.

the engine came today woot woot

I have a savage and changed the engine about a month ago. Once I got the clutch bell off, I took a small flat head screw driver, inserted it under one of the clutch shoes( there are 3 on my savage) and pried it up. With very little effort the clutch shoe slid right up the post and poped off. Then the other 2 came off. Then I removed the flywheel nut and pried the flywheel off. It you can and get a chance take a pic. That would help out alot with trying to help you out.

i get a flathead screwdriver, pull out a shoe and flick the spring off the clutch nut with the screwdriver.

When taking the flywheel off just pull it, don't hit a side of it witha hammer or screwdriver grip etc doing so will break the front bearing of the crankcase

sounds good..ill proly buy new clutch shoes, these look kinda off but who knows

ok [well I'm screwing the screw to hold the clutch bell on into the end of the crankshaft. is it supposed to not go all the way in and have to back and the clutch bell have some back and forth movement?

Be sure that the bearings are installed on the inside and outside of the clutch bell. On top of the clutch bell I have a bushing then a washer. When I put the screw in, I use a little locktite. I loosen the screw a little till the clutch bell spins freely. Then let the locktite cure for a while. There should not be alot of play(back and forth movement) of the clutch bell. Hope this helps ya!
