i finnaly got my wasp 28 engine broke in......had a problem with the clutch gear stripping if i hit the throttle to much which was a 49tooth & had to go to a 52 tooth......this wasp ripps.......I'm using the stock clutch & clutchbell that came on the hpi 25 engine which works great other than the shoes burn up after about 4 tanks & have to be changed......thats getting aggervating......I'm using onfa clutch shoes......anyone know why theese burn up so fast ? and what would be a good clutch setup for the wasp ?

Get a 3 or 4 shoe Aluminum clutch. They dont burn out as easy. also I would get a new CB, if it is pretty new then take some fine sand paper and rub the inside of the CB were the shoes make contact. and maybe some stiffer clutch springs will help also

since you have a more powerfull motor you might want to think about going with a stronger clutch spring hpi ( I think) makes gold springs they are meant for a more powerfull motor like yours.

One more thing to add...
When replacing your clutch shoes.I have found that it is best to use a new clutch bell..
When the clutch bell heats up it warps Causing it wear the shoes uneven..MY:2cents:

aluminum shoes.......the hobby shop said they wear out the cb really quick & are mainly just for looks

Your LHS is blowing smoke, They do wear out CB abit faster then carbon shoes. How ever Aluminum Shoes get a hell of a lot better hook-up, they dont slip and over heat as much, they can take the abuse, and they last longer. And if you get a Hardened CB it will last longer.

And your LHS is stupid How the Hell can AL shoes be for looks, you can't even see them when they are installed.

yes the engine is lettin out plenty of smoke all the time......temp is running about 245deg.......I'm gona do away with buying from that hobby shop........went there today to get a set of knockoffs & they tried to sell me a locknut set for the rims.......kinda made me mad.......onfa sell the alluminum shoes ?
