i heard a lot of parts for a regualr inferno 7.5 wont fit on the sports -- which parts exactly?

i know the sports isnt a racing buggy, i got one jsut to experiment with 1/8th scale as a basher (i race my XXXNT's ;) ) but I'm looking for parts that will fit both cars -- nothing special, just things to lighten it and increase durability, like titanium turnbuckles and the like --

OH MY GOD.

i jsut shattered my connecting rod in the engine

where can i get a replacement? :o or are there any other brands with the same size that'll fit? :o

pics coming :o

Incorrect break-in would be my guess, it could also happen due to over-revving. Could be a manufacturing fault, but I highly doubt it. Looks pretty nasty.... can't really tell whats gone wrong though.

Make sure you totally pull apart and clean the engine when your rebuilding, to get all the specs of broken conrod out - and check P/S/C for scratches too.

Spitty.... hope you have the bucks for a new rod or new engine or whatever. :( Good luck dude.

dilemma:

crankshaft is too long and the engine mounts are weird :|

what to do...what to do...

oh god i'm an idiot -- the pilot shaft on the RG-X is already on teh crankshaft -- i didnt needto screw on the pilot shaft from the previous engine :|

now i must figre out what to do with the engine mounts :|

good luck. maybe you need to spend time thinking over compatibility before you buy stuff... id hate to generalise, but it seems most of you american blokes have money to spend again when you stuff something up, but personally I prefer to get it right the first time. With the 7.5, you need to stick to PS engines with compact pullstarts. The RGX has stuck out like a sore thumb, as one of the only pullstart 21's without a compact unit for the last few years - had you only asked first, I would have advised a hyper8 instead.

What you can do to get it in, is to place washers/shims/spacers between the engine and mounts, to raise the engine enough, so that the pullstart doesn't touch the chassis anymore. You will probably need longer engine mount screws too.

I've seen it done before plenty of times (RGX in 75) so its entirely possible. :p:

:) the engine came with spacers ;)

does anyone have pictures of the engine mounts for it?

the sprts came with that haggard motor with the mounts already moulded into the block :o

back on topic -- what are some of the better parts that will fit the sports and increase drability/lighten it?

Yeah you need to buy the engine mounts from the regular 7.5 kit, along with the 4 flathead screws, 4 large hex screws and 4 small hex screws needed to mount them and the engine to them.

Increasing durability and lightening rarely go hand in hand. Durability above weight-loss is my principle, if you are hard on your car I suggest you go with the same.

I'd suggest a good pair of 7075 F/R shocktowers first. Then a pair of 6061 or 7075 CNC chassis braces, as well as a pair of 7075 hingepin holders F/R --- the stock gold ones bend pretty easily.

Racers edge make some of the best, but they cost, so it might be smart to go on ebay and buy from teambluestar etc - they are fairly decent and much, much cheaper.

that probably doesn't help you much, i am really sorry but i have got some serious exams to study for this week, if someone doesn't beat me to it, ill grab the screw sizes out of my manual this tuesday afternoon when my worst ordeals are over.

maybe christian would be kind enough to grab those for you.

or to DIY, go to Kyosho's site, go to the manuals section, and get the manual for the regular 7.5. You'll find what you need in the part listings at the back of the manual.

You'll also want steel spur gear too. The rest of the car is pretty good stock, but the Kanai 2 milled chassis for $70-75 is a kick ass upgrade.

chassis braces and steering knuckles are next on my list I've replaced all stock turnbuckles iwth the lunsford titanium ones, and they included tie-rods for all the chassis braces as well so i should be ok for a while until i get some cash for more aluminum/Ti ;)
