  1. Bashing
hey guys. read in a thread somewhere about someone wanting to utilize the 3rd channel on a car. wondering how i would go about hooking up a 3 pin pc fan? i have one lying around so i figure i might give it a go. only want it to cool the head when bashing in slow speed situations.

You would have to figure what wires on the fan do what (+/-), and then attach a servo connector to it. The thing that I would be concerned about is the fan doing damage if it came off, being as it's a spare I doubt you care about the fan but I don't see it lasting too long attached to a MT that gets bashed. If the fan kicks it, do the remote start.

How do you plan to attach it to the engine? Attaching it to the head may put too much stress on the cooling head bolts. Just something I thought about but I'm not too sure, I don't know what the fan weighs.

i can figure out which is positive and negative. just how do i hook it up to power/ on/off switch using the channel. and i have 2 grills ill be putting on both sides. and the fan will be between the heat and fuel tank. i have a cage so it wont be going anywhere or getting damaged.

The pin closest tot he outside of the case on the reciver in normally your negative wire, center is signal and the inside wire is your positive. For it be an actual on/off you would need a picco switch like I mod to make a kill switch for a Baja. They are just an RC controlled relay. Power comes from the relay and battery pack instead of the receiver.

does the stock 2.4g receiver pass enough power to power a small fan?

I forgot about that, I think it will always have power to the fan so you rx pack will probably go pretty fast.

hrmmm. well atm i charge it maybe every 2nd time or 3rd that i go out. so maybe ill have to charge it every time... ill sus it out. but will i be able to plug a fan into the receiver to power it via a switch or will i just have to have it running the whole time?... would be nice to set it up at a temp switch

I would just order a 6V fan the exact size that you are looking for in a 2 wire format from eBay and then when you get it all you have to do is either solder or crimp a futaba connector on it. Plug it into channel 3 and as is well
