homemade nitro bulldozer

A nitro engine isn't good for that application. Bulldozer operate at slow speeds and under load most of the time. Nitro engines like to overheat under those conditions. You're looking for high turn, high torque electric motors.

it would be sweet to do but ya i would say the nitro engine would over heat badly electric motors geared low would be best i would think

With proper gear reduction and a water filled heat exchanger you could do it with a boat engine. Sounds like a project though.

Depending what scale you wanna do, if smaller, I'd go with a 35 - 55 turn brushed motor with a crawler esc.

Another thing you have to think about....the way a bulldozer steers is by stopping or slowing one track. That is going to be really hard to set up on a nitro platform. Two electric motors would be MUCH easier to do that with.

Yea. With a stick remote, dual esc's and motors, would be sweet. Would probably have to use something like a 6ch radio for all the servos that thing would have on it. An RC back hoe would be awesome.

Just a few of the model equipment videos that are out there.
Most of these have real hydraulic systems.

I've wanted an RC track hoe for years, as that's what I did for years was run heavy equipment. Just too cost prohibitive though, the one in that video is around $7,000 minus shipping, with a 4-7 month lead time. :whhooo:

I know how you feel. I ran loader for well over 16,000 hours plus excavator, dozer, backhoe, and 6x6 truck.....never even began to get sick of it.

I was fourth generation equipment operator, my great Grandfather owned a clearing / grading company. I have pictures of me on bulldozers with my Grandpa when I was about 3 or 4 years old, started playing by myself at about 10 or so. By 25 I was burnt out, I hated it, and made a career change and never looked back. I'll still get on a piece of equipment and goof around, and still have a lot of respect for the people that do it day in day out.
