I haven't anything negative to say about the Castle, but my Hobby wing experiences have been so good I would personally opt for the ezrun (or rather the Xerun 150 for only another $10)

So with hobbywing etc can it be hooked to a pc with a usb cord like the castle or does it need that programming box?

It needs a programming card. I have one that I don't need if you end up getting the hobby wing setup
