I dunno....my buddy asked me and I was wondering myself lol

I think it might have to do with lights on certain models but I have to charge my battery to my rock van before I can verify that. I'm really just guessing though.

Well I can't figure out what the dip switches do, or if they are even active. They might not even be hooked up to anything. I tried every configuration I could. 🤷‍♂️

I sent HeliDirect the question earlier today. I figure they will reply tomorrow.

What do these 4 switches in red do?

From what I've found so far is they do nothing lol well nothing for the brushless setup. Maybe for a different rx they might do something. I gotta mess with my buddies evo pro and see if it makes a difference. I gotta work on his anyway, because he blew the servo for steering the other day.

Interested to here what they say.
Still waiting. I actually asked the question on the product page. Maybe that is just for customer replies. I just emailed them.

Update on the extra brass also. I can see the difference in traction. But the other day I had to give it some throttle to bounce up. And it bounced the two left wheels up.....almost went over but settled down nice instead.

Another thing I noticed.

I've gotten hung up on the frame rails with the servo mounting tabs. Now that I've adjusted things to have better flex they hit much more and bind sometimes.

Anyone else run into this?

Happens on the SCX24's also. Get out the dremel and grind the servo ears down on the top corners.
Looks like I'd need to take a good amount off. Does the scx24 hit as much as the cr18p pro juice up?

Not that much, no. They do make direct mount servos, that do away with the servo mount and the servo ears. Contact www.helidirect.com and ask them what servo fits your truck. If they make one, they sell it.
Do you have any experience with the Torq servos? Are there any other options I don't know about?

There are a few different companies making direct mount servos for the small truck. But yeah, they're awesome servos from what I have seen. If 2FMRC says they're good, he's not just saying that for free stuff.

Great discussion. On the OP’s gear issue, could it be the slop in the tranny allowing the gears to slam when changing from forward to reverse. With the body off watching the motor turn three or four revolutions before the driveshafts move makes me wonder. Love this crawler, but would like to find a way to seriously reduce the slop in the tranny.
Great servo info too!

Have you pulled the transmission apart?

Furitek may have a transmission for it. If they don't, check Hot Racing or Injora. All quality stuff if they offer anything.

I would also check any grub screws. There are typically flats on the output shafts, and if a grub comes loose it will add a lot of slop into the drivetrain.

That wasn't the case with mine or my buddies juice up. Both times for mine where under power. The tranny does have slop, but the majority of the drive drivetrain slop looks like it comes from the portal axles. The yolk attachment points on the driveshafts would be nice to tighten up too.

Burned something up today. Definitely the steering servo. You can see the hot spot at the back seem.

A few weeks ago I noticed some rubbing of the servo wires from the outrunner motor, not bad, not totally through the plastic of the wires. So I put a zip tie to the frame rail to keep it out of the way. Hard to see.

So today I was running the truck for a while and then got a phone call from some spam crap, hung up. And then the truck went nuts....forward and back, wheels side to side.....like I was going crazy with the controller and I wasn't even holding it. I grabbed the truck to pull the battery and smeled electrical. I have zero steering. But forward and reverse work fine. The servo was hot as hell and the esc was much warmer than usual.

What could have happened? I'm stumped.

Guess I'm needing a servo to start, but what could have caused all that?
