Testing/After Run Thoughts
After eight packs put through the chassis/driveline; lawndarting; wing mount used as landing gear... I'm joyed to have the mini truggy up and running with no major mishaps.
Just so thrilled to be able to use a motor that I had shoved in a box nine years ago. The 4500kv 550 size motor is perfect for me. I thought for sure I'd be backing off the throttle endpoint like I do on my other mini truggy & SCT with 4000kv motors. If I had to guess, I'm probably undergeared by two teeth which is great for 17-minute runs in mid-summer day sunshine beating down.
The suspension is just about perfect for my driving and track conditions. I do run the TT 2.0 at above my normal "bones level" ride height. This is due to me using the included stadium truck tires vs. SCT wheels/tires on my other mini truggy. I will note that I'm currently considering swapping in shock pistons from another ride as I am wanting just a hair more pack... assuming the Hobao factory does fill shocks with 600cSt oil.
Steering is not bad. Hard acceleration out of a corner is maybe a bit lacking. The medium compound tires, I'm sure, do not help. And speaking of tires, I'll need to find some that will hold up to pebble infused dirt. Trenchers maybe? That's my plan for when stock tire pins become bumps.
Using a 2S LiPo "stick" pack, no ill flight characteristics that I could tell. A bit more nose high attitude compared to my ET410 but could easily be brought back under control. Some days I wish I could send RCs to the moon and back... I'll leave that stuff to the true "bashers" I guess.
Long term durability of the Hobao... I'll get back with that info at the end of the RCing season.
