I had to strip my whole Mugen MBX5T chassis down to install a new KingHeadz engine mount and I got to thinking if it was a half assed idea to mill out the chassis plate to lighten it up a tad, is this a bad idea? 'cuz it's a little to late:

Good idea or not, or should I just place an order for a new plate?

Personally I think the chassis looks weakened.

There's only one way to find out, after I get the engine set up for bump starting.

Yeah, you can lighten it up and drill/mill in certain places without affecting how the chassis handles but you went way overboard. If you start eating clutch bearings and cracking bodies, you know you went too far.

Looks great! But I agree.. that's too much. If I were a betting man I'd say it'll kink right under the center diff the very first time you landa little too much nose first

:gulp: wow never seen it done like that before. Why did you have to strip the whole chassis to put in an engine mount?
looks weaker to me mate, but only one way to find out ;)

Thats one for the shop wall........so you can tell the story of how "one time after RC camp".

Looks interesting....but not really practical....not the way I drive anyway.

The KingHeadz engine mount I bought has the extra "leg" that sticks out towards the fuel tank, that'll take care of some more rigidity and less flexing, I can always get their (KH) aluminum braces as well.

The KingHeadz engine mount required an extra hole top be drilled and I wanted to strip the whole chassis down for cleaning anyways. That's how I got curious. Here's the one I got: http://kingheadz.com/pictures/partz/kp-518-1.jpg

I never land that way, since buying a buggy I actually learned how to drive!!

Keep them nearby!! If this chassis goes bananas, I'll need another one to try another milling method!!

Not with that many holes in the chassis. Also, use the plastic braces, they are stiffer than the aluminum. About everyone I know with a Prospec, including myself are running plastic braces.

I'm feeling confident, besides, the chassis already has a bend in it, but in the opposite direction of the bad bend, it actually is bent upwards, there's a crown in the middle, I noticed this after too many failed attempts at a back flipping and possibly due to all the upside down landings, so if anything, it'll bend itself straight.

Took this sucker out bashing and did every end over end, cart wheel and nose dive in the book, and the chassis is actually staighter than it was when I bought it, go figure.

I also learned how insanely high an modded STS.30 can rev when you do a bump starter set up on it, sh*t!!! I must have at least another 2000 rpms on tap now!
