Hi-

A friend of mine just got an RC10GT ( RTR ) and is working through the de-bugging process with it. For now he is just going to bash. Currently he is experiencing two related problems and I was wondering if all you experienced RC10 owners could help with it.

1) If the truck bumps into anything ( a curb, a berm , you name it ) the sudden combined with the forward momentum causes the motor to slide forward slightly. I am not talking about high-speed crashes here, just minor bumping, to the point that would be expected with normal RC bashing fun. This causes problem number 2:

2) When the motor slips forward the small metal gear on the clutch barely makes contact with the larger ( plastic in this case ) drive gear and as a result the truck won't run, the motor winds out uncontrollably until it can be shut off and the plastic drive gear's teeth get shredded and/or chewed off.

( appolgies for improper terminology, remember I am a noob )

Any simple fixes for the slipping problem? Looking at the 3 screws that hold the motor in place and allow the two gears to make contact, it seems you could put thread locker on them and possibly stop the problem. Therefore, no slipping no grinding of the plastic drive gear. But that may not do it, so I am thinking there must be a better solution. Also, there must be a steel of bass upgrade for the plastic drive gear, correct?

Any thoughts you could offer would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to help my friend out so we can bash together once I get my Savage.

Thanks!

yes, you need to locktite those screws so they stay tight and prevent the motor from sliding around.

Robinson Racing makes a nice Metal spur gear/ clutch bell combo. YOu must buy both thought. Clutch bell and spur.

Great! Thanks to one and all for the help. Sounds like a simple fix. I'll pass it along to my friend.

Is your friends name George Costanza??
Just kidding.

You should put locktite on any metal to metal screws, and superglue on screws that go into plastic. This will fix alot of your(when you get yours), and his problems.
