help with motors

i have a bunch of motors a bunch of esc i know nothing about electric stuff.
how do i test them to see if they work ? just to test can i just touch the motor wires to the batts or will it screw them up? then how do i test the esc's?:\

that is how I test my electric motors.. I think the only way to test an esc. would be to hook it up and try it out honestly,, that is after you make sure the motor works first..

What motors and esc's do you have?
some electronic components arent made for power without setups and might get hurt
but its only a few
