Hi folks
Hoping use can help with Setting up my thunder tiger S50, it was running fine but won't idle now, it still has good compression but is going through the glow plugs at least one every time out, now it doesn't even go I to second gear!!! I'm waiting on new glow plugs coming what high and low settings should I Start with? It will idle if I keep the fuel going with the squeezy but cuts out after about 10 seconds on its own, the setting in the manual aren't great, and all my local model shop had to say was S50 engines are problematic which isn't much help

The problems started once I started to lean it out so back to factory settings will do, the settings in the manual aren't any good just by looking at the screw positions from what I remember, thanks in advance

Your truck probably won't shift because you've messed up the tune. Did you follow the break-in procedure properly and run at least 5 tanks before opening up the throttle for a speed run? The manual tells you the initial settings it came from the factory and I suggest you set the needles back to that position and go from there.

The break in was followed, it's,had about a gallon through the engine, and it still has good compression, the settings in the manual arent any good, the truck has an erratic idle at the moment, once I get new glow plugs I will have another go

During and after the break in new engines can eat through glow plugs- you may of also messed up your tune and that's why it's not shifting- it's just the way nitro is :)

If you were too aggressive with leaning the needles you'd have a problem. Too lean and you burn out the plugs.
Once you're well into or finished with the break-in, factory setting will no longer work.
Agreed, the proper tune is needed to make it shift properly.

Hi I've got the truck running again, but still can't seem to get it to shift into second, to get it to idle with a 1mm throttle gap it's running a bit Smokey, but any deviation from this on the low speed screw and it just cuts out, is it the high speed screw I should be altering to get it to shift into second

The high speed screw leans it out, thus raising the max RPM so potentially, yes :)

The LSN and the idle screw TOGETHER set the proper idle and take-off from a dead stop. When that's set, the HSN takes over and would also help the shift point towards WOT. If all is tuned well and you have a shifting problem you'll have to adjust the trans.
