http://www.buydig.com/shop/product....=cpc&utm_campaign=SAMLN52A650&sku=SAMLN52A650

If anyone has thoughts about brand, specs and or comments they would like to share please do.

Edit... This is about the max i want to spend and i really would like to stay in the 50" pluse range. I had a 42" and it was justnot enough.
What kinda flat screen do you own?

samsung makes some of the nicest lcd's available. I say pull the trigger on that one.

I love my samsung lcds!!! They all have really nice black light re-creation and tons of options..
Cnet give that model a good review but said it was a little pricey. I'm sure you already have but if not , check out cnet.com... They have never let me down on electronics reviews... They will also give you the settings for best picture quality for pretty much any lcd tv you can get your hands on...

I happen to like Samsung t.v.'s as well. Although I have one of the first DLP's they made a few years back. I bought Samsung LCD for the bedroom for Christmas, but unfortunately, it's still in the box.

Second runner up

Just got off that cnet.com that site rocks thank you sooo much its now in my favorites. Anywho in there top 5 best selling gadgets the samsung was #1 believe it or not. I do like the second runner up tho. It has 2,000,000:1 contrast RACTIO (spelled that wrong ooops) and the samsung has 50,000:1 how big of a diff does this make and the sec one does not list a (Hz) does this not apply to plasma tvs. So wich one guys help me out its going to be one of these two. Please vote you people who know more then me ok everyone vote

I wish i could afford a dlp don't they cost a bundle? I would like a led tv to but dont think it's in the cards well if I would stop buying rc stuff it might hahah not going to happen!

led tv's are amazing. plasma's are hot and you will always have a fan running inside the tv. You get a brighter picture with plasma but they are also prone to glare.

LCD samsung is the best "budget minded" option i have seen.
the high end sony's do look niiiiice tho.

Look carefully at the lighting in your room. If it is always bright an LCD may be a better option. Our family room has low to medium indirect lighting. I went with a Samsung 52" 1080P plasma mounted about 4 feet from the floor on the wall and we don't have any glare issues. There is a entertainment chest in front of it so the kids don't touch the screen.

As far as heat goes, I don't hear any fans running even when the sound is off. It does put out some heat at the back of the unit but I don't see why this is an issue for some people.

Picture quality is a very subjective topic. I would go to a retailer and look at both side by side and see what YOUR eyes like better.

Thankx guys! Yeah I am going to do the same wall mount and entertainment stand set up. I could go look at them but i would have to drive over a hour to do so. Stores around here don't have D%$@! Walmart, sears and boscovs.

I was looking at the ones with an LED backlight. Those are nice and do the blacks without the blotchiness that many other plasma and lcd's have.

I keep getting laughed at by my buddies at work since I still use a square CRT rear projection 60" big screen. Although, it's making it very hard to look at anything that is 55" or less for LCD... Saw a nice 65" at best buy last week... drool drool

Samsung has really nice plasma tvs. I really like them led tvs they have 2,000,000.1 ratio to 5,000,000.1 ratio wich is just crazy but so is the price. Tho you could find a 55''( in think )referb that was org priced at 4,500 for like 2,500. I have been learning alot about tvs this last month and I think this is one of the best I could afford with the quality I am looking for. I would really suggest to anyone to look into getting a tv that has yahoo giggets and a eithernet port I think this will be really big in the next few years. Just my 2! Netflix will have a wigget out soon called (blue ray live) I think were you could watch blue ray movies from the net right to your tv. There is sooo much to tvs now a days you could never keep up with it all. Now I just need some sound I want a nice sound bar. Anyone have any thought on any? Looks like another month of learning!:D

Think sony has a 60 or 65'' lcd fpr like 20,000 no joke!

Just so you know for future reference: Samsung & Sony LCD panels are made at the same factory. They are the same panels. The differences are in the control electronics & extra wizzbang features specified by the vendor.

I always love it when someone says that a Sony model is way better picture quality than a Samsung (or vice versa) when they are the exact same panels from the same factory line. :)

Samsung does tend to be cheaper than the same Sony tho.. yay brand name consumerism!

In my opinion I had samsung and sony running neck and neck to be the best brand in tvs I didn't know that they were the same. When I did my shopping I looked at the specs, size, features and price and tried to come up with the best one in the middle ground leaning more towards the top end that was in my price range.

Edit...Think I heard somewhere that sony and vizio are made in the same place as well??? Any thoughts on this.

They might be made by the same company but defiantly a lower grade! I had a vizio for about 5 hours, poor sound and couldn't get the colors right so it had to go!

Hahahah me to back around november I had one for about 2-3 weeks and it was not what I was looking for. It went right back! Not to bad for the price really tho! Just not what I was looking for but I still loved watching it over the tv I am watching now. Nothing wrong with a vizio!
