I want to build something that will out do the Axial Capra which is currently the most capable crawler I have in 1/10 scale. I have a Vanquish VS410 phoenix and its nice and all, but it wont keep up with the capra as its built for more of a trail rig. I'm almost done with the refurb on the Capra and I'm turning it over to the wife but I can't let her have a more capable rig than I do.

I was looking at Rhino kits that run Capra axles but realized I know little to nothing about those types of kits. Any input on what would be a good foundation to build on would be much appreciated.

Hmmm.... Questions:

Budget?
Wheel Size?
Drag Axle or FWS?
Truck or Trail Buggy?
Kit or RTR?
Crawler or Trail Truck?
Expectations in terms of performance? Does it need to walk walls or just do better than an Capra?
Portals or straight axles?

Vanquish VRD kit is really hard to beat for the dollars.

VRD 11.webp

I could establish a budget but that never seems to work so why bother.

The Capra I'll be competing with runs 1.9's and 2.2's

Drag axle to keep it somewhat fair

No RTR and no trail truck. No preference between straight or portal although most of the stuff I have is portal axle.

Walk walls....that sounds like fun. Id say out of all the stuff you posted, I'm most interested in post 11
