you can't charge a ni-mh with a ni-cd charger, so google your model and see if it says ni-mh charger and read your battery and see what it says

well my charger has a label it said nicd and my battery said nimh i think i need a new charger

I'd say, no. NiCad only and 2.5A charge rate.

Timed chargers aren't that good anyway. They can overcharge a pack or undercharge it. You really don't know other than by temping the pack. Even then, it's a guessing game. Peak chargers are better as they monitor the pack and sense when the voltage drops a bit. That's what happens when cells are "full". As it charges, the voltage of the pack goes up, so when it dips in voltage, the charger shuts off high current charging.

This is what I use (except an older model):

It does a really good job. My only gripe is that everytime you unplug it, you have to reset the charge rate as it defaults at 3A, which is way too much for a 2/3A cell pack (standard cell size receiver pack) or a AA pack.
