Well as many of you may know if you watch the news, here in the midwest we were hit with a big ice storm. It brought trees down everywhere knocking out electric service to thousands of people including me. Mine was off from Sunday morning until late Thursday afternoon. The shop where I work came back on Tuesday night.

We had to stay at my mother-in-law's house during that time. Luckily she is a GOOD mother-in-law, not like those you hear about in jokes and in the sitcom shows. But it sure was good to finally go home and back to my own bed.

The weatherman was calling for a bunch of snow for today but thankfully he was off a bit. We only got about an inch here.

Here's a couple of pictures. It was like this everywhere we drove. Kinda looked like a war zone or hit by a tornado with the exception that the houses weren't destroyed too.

Is it summer yet???? I hope some of you are having more enjoyable weather.

Randy

Wow man. Coulda been a lot worse. About 15 years ago, the power was out at my parents house for a few days.

It wasn't so bad, except PG&E was inept at the time (actually, they still are).... Within a couple hours of the outtage, the other side of the road had their power back.

When my parents saw that the power was still out here, yet on across the road, a call to PG&E yielded "but your power IS on".

It gets even better. The power was off for a total of 12 days. The worst part; this is during the middle of July.

A deep-freeze full of food and a refridgerator half-full.... Gone! PG&E wouldn't even credit the value of the food to the bill (which would not have been lost if they would have simply driven down the road and looked).

All because the subdivision is wired in segments. My parents' side of the road is on a different feeder line than the other side of the road.

It took calling around and getting ahold of a tech that knew their stuff to research and find the feeder line number and name.

Now whenever theres' a problem, my parents call in and tell them the power is out on such-and-such line, and they fix it within hours.

I've seen a lot of ice damage like that, living in New York most of my life.
Last Tuesday we set a record here. 76 degrees. I knew there was a good reason why I moved.

It is starting to feel the cool down here as well. We are even getting down in to the low 60s at night....but at least it warms up in to the mid 70s during the day. Winter....nope not me...lol.

I'll bet Al Gore's running around in circles right now saying "I told you so!!"

And the dumb b@stard is still hunting for ManBearPig too I bet.

cold winter storms has nothing to do with global warming :)

Actually, it does, but I am NOT going to get into ALGORE's stuff!!!

We had a taste of the ice sat night into Sunday, bunch of trees down, power outtages and the like. I can live with snow, but this ice sucks. There is a park right behind my house, and everytime I took my dogs out, I could hear branches/limbs cracking, breaking, and falling. Surreal.:surrenderNO MORE ICE!!!

We had one of those several years ago. They shut down hunting season because of it.
Lot of wooded property around. Kinda erie, ain't it? Listening to all the limbs breaking off.

Had our first snow here last night. I still don't care much for it even though we don't get as much as a lot of people.
