hearing a bunch about these trucks needing some extra heatsinks to help the motors live longer and resist thermal shutdown..see some different styles on ebay and online...if i'm gonna run this truck in series and beat on it a lot...would one of the clip on can style's work best? or the motor plate styles work better? anyone have an add-on heatsink and see a difference? any recommendations would be great...thanks...

Dan

They have clip on style heatsinks that include a fan that plug into the rx for power. That might be the ticket for you.

cool thanks..i just ordered a new motor plate with a heatsink in it and a new motor mount with extended fins...we'll see how that goes and maybe get the clip on style last...

i found the align heat sink...got 2...plus the plate and motor mount..should all be here next week after i get the truck...with all 4 heat sinks on the truck it's got to be enough! :)

Let us know what you think about the align heat sink, I've been holding out on TheToyz to get the first one I linked in stock. That blue heatsink would look good with my blue motor mount and plate :)

i got a red motor plate heatsink and the blue motor mount one on the way..plus doing the 2 gold align ones too when they come in..and will cut out the windows for some airflow..i'm hoping all that will preserve the motor for a while with me running it in series most of the time...

Drivinfast...those are the heatsinks we've been talking about..i got my 2 in yesterday...i replaced my motor mount with one of the longer finned ones and put one of the Align ones on top of the motor..i have a 2nd..but no room for it unless i lengthen the motor/esc wires..for now i'm happy that i have as much cooling as i might need with holes cut in the windshiled and the rear of the body too - i did my pinion chnage and got my series connector in and eady for a test run today at lunch...i'll tyr to take some pics tonight of my setup..have to thermal paste the heatsink to the motor..but it seems to be holding on well for now...

Got this one from The Toyz.

even with 2 align heatsinks, a motor mount heatsink, and holes cut into the body - a 3s LiPo and some hardcore running will still cause your MERV to thermally shutdown! :)
