hEy guys I'm new to the nitro rc world. i have a HPI Firestorm and i have this recurring problem: the header bolt always backs itself out and the truck loses fuel pressure and dies. i was thinking of putting lock-tite on it. would i have a problem doing so?

Blue Loc-tite will work

Or, get a longer bolt that goes through the flange on the header and put a locknut on the stump that sticks out. Tighten the header as you normally would, then put on the locknut and cinch it down good. Should keep it from rattling loose on you.

I'd be surprised of locktite would hold up to the heat of the header, considering the thing you do to break locktight free on a stubborn bolt is to hit it with some heat, but it may help.

yea i was going to try the blue stuff i have but the only thing I'm worried about is if i ever have to get the exhaust off it wouldnt come off. i had the same problem with the antenna on my car, the threads broke off the antenna when i tried taking it off.

I work in the Automotive field.....

the blue locktight will allow the bolt to come out.

the red will need some serious heat to allow the bolt to come out.

The jam nut seems to be the best idea so far if it were me.

i have an automotive background also =] the jam nut does seem like the best idea but I'm not sure if the bolt can go all the way through i havent looked at it.

If it has the Nitro Star 15 it should... my Evo 3 (w. nitro star 15) does. and i believe the G30 is a .18 version of the .15 so it should.... dont want to swear to it though.

you completely lost me.. with the numbers and such.. i think i got that it would work so ill check.

Depending on how old and what version of the firestorm you have it could have a .18 engine or a .15 engine in it. IF it is the .15 you'll have no problems with the jam nut on the back side of the engine housing.....

if

you have the .18 engine i'm not exactly sure.
